It came in a large wooden crate which was very heavy. There were several hundred screws and retaining clips to build the pieces. The directions werent perfect, and actually showed the fasteners backwards so they must have recently changed those. It took about 3-4 hours to build the small unit. The materials are very heavy duty and feel commercial. The design makes a good use of the footprint it takes up. The only problem we have is that we ordered the walnutblack color, but it came in oakblack. Each piece had a sticker on it that said oak. It was nice how the pieces were labeled for easy installation. Im still waiting to hear back from customer service to see if we can get the correct color, because we would not have ordered the oak for the room we purchased it for. **update** customer service ordered a replacement desk in the correct color walnutblack. However, they then canceled the replacement without any notice or reason. So I guess Im stuck with the wrong color desk which is poor service. Overall, this is a really nice desk. It looks great, feels sturdy, and seems well made once everything is assembled. Im very happy with the finished product. I love the lock feature. My only complaint is that the assembly instructions could be written much better. Some of the steps werent very clear and required a little trial and error to figure out. Better diagrams and more detailed explanations would make the assembly process much easier. Overall, I would still recommend the desk. Its a great product once you get past the instructions..
