Depending on the cleaning code, test a small area in a hidden area (under a cushion) with the appropriate cleaning solution. Gently rub in the solution with a clean cloth, let it dry, and check for stains. This prevents accidental damage from cleaning. Items labeled 'W' need water-based cleaners, 'S' needs solvents, and 'X' means that you should only clean with a vacuum or dry brush. 'WS' is the most flexible, allowing both solvents and water-based products. Other cleaning tips are to soak up spills with a clean cloth as soon as possible and when removing stains, gently apply the solution with circular strokes until the color starts to go away.
