Good solid wood but it comes with so many screws and if you don’t know what you’re doing, you’ll have a really hard time. I’m pretty good at building furniture and I would say this isn’t for beginners to build. Every now and then I would have to stop and really look at the pieces and holes. Some holes were drilled unnecessarily or there would be something slightly off but if you know what you’re doing, it does work out in the end. I also had some help with this piece and it took 1 hour to build. Also, the dents in the shelf only allow for 2.5 pairs of dumbbells. I bought 3 pairs so far and only 1 dumbbell will have a holder for each pair. A bit interesting but overall cute if you’re going for a certain aesthetic. I’m very happy with this desk! I’m a fairly tall lady (5’10”) and it gets more than tall enough for me to use while standing. Setup took around 3 hours with 2 people (granted we’re not very building savvy) and instructions were fairly cleareasy to follow. When it came to the “use a box for support” part of the manual, we just used throw pillows and it worked fine. Everything was packaged very thoughtfully and the quality of the desk feels very sturdy. Wow, I have used a lot of sitstand desks and this is up there with the best of them. It is super sturdy and transitions so smoothly. The auto stop when hitting something is great, I don’t know how many times I’ve hit things over the years and this makes it so safe as it is highly sensitive so it doesn’t take a big hit to stop. I’m thoroughly impressed with this desk from shipping to packaging and installation.
