The Mahogany stools are not as dark as the counter top, but the black would not have matched either, soooo . . . it is what it is; we still love them because they are GORGEOUS !! Absolutely LOVE these chairs and I have had many compliments on them. I put them together myself without too much difficulty until the end of the second chair when I could not get the chair seat secured to the frame. The screw provided was just not long enough.
