The bed arrives in 3 heavy boxes. The directions are not as clear as building LEGOs, but we were able to follow them. There are a lot of pieces, so it took quite a few hours to assemble. Some of the pieces were scuffed and slightly damaged upon arrival, but not bad enough that we wanted them to be replaced. The bed is large and heavy when it's completely done, so make sure you have it where you want it as you complete the last few steps. The light in the shelf is cool, but the controls to turn it on/off are kind of weird, and the instructions suggest putting it in a place that you can't reach once the bed is assembled, so that doesn't make any sense. It was SUPER easy to put together. It had the same screws basically for everything, so it was hard to mess up. It does come in a lot of pieces, however, the slats will come in the smaller box that gets delivered which is nice. It took me about 1.5 hours with help. The tracking of the shipment was also super convenient and accurate. I was thrown off with the staircase handrail, it’s not very kid friendly to hold onto because it’s low. It does squeak a little bit when my girls climb the stairs, and can sway easy. That’s the only reason I took a star away. Otherwise it is perfect for my 2 and 3 year old to share!. Katie. Amazing bed!! Putting it together definitely requires two people but it has very straightforward instructions. At a 140lbs I was able to climb on it and the bed was extremely sturdy. We absolutely love all the features this bunk has, especially for the price. Built in storage, book shelves for both beds, stairs, and a slide were all major reasons for choosing this model. Our daughters are so excited, and it ended up feeling sturdy even as an adult climbing up and down the stairs and making the bed. 3 main factors brought my rating down 1. Assembly was a beast with awful instructions. 2. Quality of pieces is disappointing. 3. It’s massive and definitely not “space saving for small rooms” as advertised. More on each Assembly - I’m somewhere between proficient and advanced for building this type of furniture. It took several hours (although slightly faster with 2 people). The instructions only have pictures which are not well drawn or labeled. They’re truly the worst assembly instructions I’ve ever had to follow. The pieces randomly are drawn flipped over in very odd ways which makes it nearly impossible to follow certain steps. I’m a stickler for detailing exactly where holes are placed to ensure everything aligns and still ended up having to undo work a few times to fix how pieces were rotated. Quality - Several holes were not drilled where they were supposed to be. Some of the white side pieces had marks which made it so I had to be very selective about which ones are on the front. Several pieces (especially parts of the stairs and shelves ) broke as we were screwing them together because the “B” screw holding parts would wobble and jut through the thin MDF. We had to cut one of the MDF shelves because a slit was not cut properly in the leg that was supposed to hold it. Size - This thing is massive. We didn’t realize because it’s advertised as being space saving for small rooms. The overall footprint is roughly 8 ft x 8 ft x 8 ft including the slide and stairs. It barely fits in our daughters’ somewhat large (12x12) room. We decided to cut 9 inches off the bottom to give a little more space to the ceiling and to make it more of a floor bed on the bottom for our younger daughter. NOTE If we did not cut off these 9 inches, the total height would’ve only left 3 inches of clearance between the top of the “house” and the ceiling. — That’s why you see a bigger gap between the bed ceiling in the picture I included..
