The Escali DH8 is an extremely useful tool for the home or outdoor cook with the functions of two thermometers in one device. In surface (infrared) mode the DH8 can read surface temperatures and when in probe mode can read internal temperatures. The IR mode is great for checking the surface temperature of grill grates, pizza stones, or the food you are cooking while the probe mode allows you to check the internal temperatures of foods to make sure they are at temperatures safe for consumption. Unlike other two-in-one devices, the DH8 is a handheld infrared thermometer with a built-in port that allows a probe thermometer to be plugged into the unit and used as a grill probe thermometer. I was surprised at the quality versus price. I found this unit very accurate in the readings compared to various other sources. I bought this unit together with the matching barometer and liked the looks so much that I followed my original order with an order for the matching clock.
