I have a full weight stained glass chandelier and it had to have extra bracing to even hang it. I love that this is slightly lighter in weight, but will be adding the extra protection, just in case. Mission Handcrafted tiffany stained glass ceiling light lampshade is slight heavy than you expected, as it is made of really 100% stained glass. But when you knock it, it sounds like plastic. That's why? Because of its special manufacturing process. Each glass piece is cut by hand, then polish the edge before wrapping the copper foil. The edges of the glass pieces are wrapped with adhesive copper tape (copper foil). Then putted together in a mould according to the pattern. At last, using soldering material to weld each glass at a very high temperature. The Stained glass is Much Heavy than Plastic, and couldn't been burned, normal knife couldn't cut them. Easy to Check it.

Stained glass is handcrafted using the same technique that was developed by Louis Comfort Tiffany in the early 1900s. Glass types and colors are designed using metallic salts during manufacturing. I couldn't be happier with this Moroccan style chandelier! Each piece was packaged very well to ensure no damage during shipment.
