My wife and I really like this lamp and appreciate Wayfair replacing the damaged lamp so quickly. Original Review: The mica on the lamp shade was damaged in several places. The packaging was perfect and the shade was probably damaged before it was packed. Second, the paint which covers the dragonflies on the base looks very good when the base light is off, but looks thin and poorly applied when turned on. Stained glass is handcrafted using the same technique that was developed by Louis Comfort Tiffany in the early 1900s. Glass types and colors are designed using metallic salts during manufacturing. Each piece of real glass is hand-cut and copper foil is wrapped around each piece. The glass pieces are then welded by hand to create one-of-a-kind designs. As part of the finishing process, oil is added to the outside of the design to protect the metal from erosion. The beauty of stained glass is its versatility when illuminated by light. Stained glass will become more vibrant when lit.
