This is heavy metal! See how thick the lid is? I have some other cheap gun safes but those are like tin-can to this one. It is solid heavy, 12 gauge steel I guess? Surprised for this price. I’ve got a fairly long and steep concrete driveway that is starting to show its age a little bit. There has been some minor cracking from the freeze-thaw cycle each winter. I decided to try the Armour SX5000 water-based sealant to see if it would improve the situation. I have delayed writing this review for a bit as I wanted to driveway to go through at least one winter season. I first pressure washed the entire driveway surface which is pretty time consuming. I then applied the Armour sealant with a manual pump sprayer. This part went fairly quickly. The trick is to get the sealant covering the driveway well, but not so much as to create puddles that aren’t absorbed. I made sure there was no rain in the forecast for a couple of days. Initially, I did half of the driveway first and the first day that it rained the difference on the two sides was very noticeable. Water on the coated side was beading and running off and on the other side it was being absorbed into the concrete. This is my first gun safe and I haven’t had any issues with it thus far. I have yet to change the combination, but don’t feel the need to do so at the moment. I may do so in the near future and will repost if I come across any issues. I don’t have any reason to believe that I’d have any issues as the craftsmanship and quality seem to be really good. Although it was packaged well, it somehow came with a small dent in the side (see picture). While this does not affect the cabinet’s purpose in any way, it was a gift for my husband and it just found this disappointing. Other than that, it is very nice overall. Not oversized and comes completely assembled. The inside is done very nicely with an eye towards maximizing the space for rifles, pistols, magazines and ammo. Both keys and code unlock it with ease.
