This stool has been perfect for that. The stool comes with leg extenders, without it, it's the height for a low breakfast counter. But adding the extenders bring it up to barstool height. Im 5'4 and I can just barely lean my butt on it with my feet still on the floor. If I want to sit, I have to use the foot rest to step up to the seat. The stool is very sturdy. The base is wider than the seat and it feels extremely stable. I don't watch my balance or feel like I need to be careful when I'm hopping up or when I'm adjusting myself. And the whole thing is much bigger than expected. The seat is extra wide, the legs and foot rest are also wide and sturdy. The seat itself is a very padded pleather.
