We found that loosening the small crossbar helped the poles fit together properly, and then we simply tightened it back up. Once we figured that out, everything worked perfectly. The octagonal shape with the drape edge detail is cute—gives it that upgraded market umbrella vibe instead of the basic look. The beige color is exactly what it looks like online. Pole diameter is 1.5” so standard if you’re sourcing your own base. Once I actually get a base and test it through some real sun/wind (it’s rated for 16 mph), I’ll update with the actual performance. We are going on our 3rd season of using this Kasia 9' Market Umbrella. It holds up better to windy weather due to the 3 layers of openings in the fabric for stability. The color today is the same as it was when I bought it. That's the beauty of ordering this solution-dyed acrylic fabric for use on outdoor umbrellas-the color. Our last umbrella's fabric color lasted over 10 years with no fading. The only reason we had to purchase a new one is due to it not having enough wind openings-the wind picked it up, carried it off the deck and it ripped, otherwise we would probably still be using it. This is by far the best market umbrella I’ve ever owned. I opted for the sunbrella fabric as it’s heavier than the other fabrics I’ve owned in the past (and did not last as long).This umbrella has a bronze colored pole and is operated by a hand crank although it does have an auto tilt feature. The auto tilt is amazing as you slowly keep cranking after the umbrella is fully extended, the auto tilt engages and the umbrella will automatically tilt. Once you start cranking in the opposite direction to close the umbrella, the auto tilt disengages and the umbrella stands upright so you can finish closing it.
