Assembly is required, but the steps are easy to understand.

I wanted a shelving unit for my old VHS collection that had a unique appearance and wasn't just a basic rectangle. The shelf sizing was the perfect fit and it looks great fully assembled. The assembly is very time consuming and exhausting, which is to be expected with any furniture product that ships. I highly recommend using an electric screwdriver for time and to protect your hands. I did the whole thing myself in about 3.5 hours and my hands took a week to heal from using a regular screwdriver. If you're not into labor-intensive assembly, then you'll need help from someone you know or a professional. If you're not strong, balanced, or coordinated, then you will 100% need someone to help you during the step to lift the top into place over the bottom half. It's heavy. I did it myself, which was risky and thought for sure I was making a mistake it until it rather-quickly slid over the connector nubs. Moving the bookcase into place is also best with help. I dragged mine on smooth flooring and, because of the weight, some of the rubber protection left streaks that were tough to wash off. You'll also want to be sure the surface you're building on is clean. The surface of the wood will scratch and be noticeable on the black boards. I didn't do a great job vacuuming and wiping the area down before starting. My fault. Anyway, I love the end result. The only things that may be questionable for some buyers are the stickers that hide the screw heads and the little plastic brackets that secure the backing. Firstly, the stickers will begin to peel if you get any fingerprint residue on them before applying or if your home is too humid. They do give you extras if you make a few mistakes. I didn't use the plastic brackets for the backing though. You have to drill them into the wood, making your own holes. I didn't want to risk damaging the product. I'm sure they have a good purpose but I left them off. The product does include anti-tipping hardware. If you have kids and/or pets, you may want to secure it to the wall. As for the ordering process, the shipping to delivery timeframe is a mild rollercoaster. They are honest about keeping you updated, which is a lot. Sometimes too much. You have to watch the updates because my delivery was delayed by Fed Ex and their own updates often make zero sense. I was exhausted just from having to be available at changing times. Not on Wayfair, just the delivery process. Be sure to carefully inspect every single part for damage or signs of a returned product, and that you received everything listed in the manual BEFORE you begin. I received the Enzo 6 Cube Record stand pretty quickly, although the box was pretty well beat up in shipping. I took me about 2-1/2 hours to put together; it went together well, without any real issues. The end product looks good, is sturdy and should function well for storing my albums. I figure it will hold around 420 albums, which I am putting in vinyl sleeves. I have added LED strip lighting to each cubicle which turned out very well and should help with search efforts, when looking for an album to play. I would have given Five Stars for this cabinet but for a couple of minor issues. 1. The instructions are not as detailed as they could be and had me guessing in a couple of instances, as to exactly how certain parts should go. I have extensive experience in reading drawings and these were lacking in detail and had me guessing, in a couple of instances. One thing that the instructions don't tell you to do, is to make sure the steel tube base is square and plumb. Also, after putting the cabinet on the base, before installing the back, make sure the ends are plumb. I used a level and had to tweak the cabinet a bit to get it as plumb as I could on each end. One end is spot on and the other was out a little; how that can be is beyond me! Once the base is tightened to the cabinet and the back is put on, it is a pretty sturdy piece. 2. There were a couple of finish issues on two corners of the unit, one is on a back corner of the top and won't be seen. The other is on the front, bottom left corner, where the edge material has a wrinkle and creates a gap. I filled it with black super glue and it will not be readily noticeable, to most people. I never write reviews, but I felt I had to disclose the complicated truth about this self-professed, record cabinet. For the price, this is a good item-high in style yet, middling in actual functionality and quality. Buuuut when I shop on Wayfair, I know what I’m stooping to; I’m desperate to find the thing that does the job and need to spend as little as possible. After a decade of having records on the floor, it was time to do just that. This product advertises it can hold up to 350 records. As it’s designed and to-be-assembled, it cannot. The shelf area, with cool slidey bar, is great-the metal curved bars are a nice addition as they keep your records from weighing on each other. Clearly some knowledge, of how to properly store records, went into the design of this item….alas….. It’s the asymmetrical door side on the left that ruins the “up to 350” claim. If assembled as instructed, that portion of the cabinet cannot safely hold records at all. Why, you ask? Well, if you put it together as the directions state, and place a few records inside the box, they will dump over once you close the door. If you halfway fill that box with records they will still dump over, weighing heavily on the records at the back. Say you then try filling the entire box with records…well, you won’t be able to see the records at the back as the way the door opens and closes doesn’t allow enough room to do so. I felt I had two choices when faced with the limitations of this product when it came to actually storing all of my 325 ish records. -Disassemble and return it because it doesn’t actually hold all my records Or: -Don’t install the box part of the left side*. Just place the records inside that door just like the adjacent shelf therefore allowing one to store the advertised amount of records. *You may want to run to the hardware store and get some attachable magnet piece so the door doesn’t flop open (which can happen as that door no longer has the box attached whose weight keeps the door closed) Lastly, I’ll note the the height of the cabinet- seems quite low. I am 5’4” and have to bend over slightly to use the record player. I keep looking at it wanting it to be 2-3 inches higher at least….but not planning to return it. We had a little trouble getting the doors aligned but they looked great once we figured it out. I have three of them in my mud room, using for shoe storage and charging station.
