The only surprise was that they were brighter silver in color than I expected; but still 5 stars. I thought they would have a heat-tempered finish. I fixed this by cold blueing it with Birchwood Casey Super Blue Liquid Gun, (typically used for blueing metal gun parts) giving them a glowing charcoal gray finish. I had a 32oz bottle from Amazon but it only used about 4 oz each (3 applications; 30 seconds each) - very easy to get professional results. It comes in smaller sizes. I bought the barstool height version, not the counter-height version, and the height is correct. I saw some reviews claiming the height was inaccurate, but that was not my experience at all. See my photo for measurements. They look great in my kitchen, feel sturdy and well made, and I really like that the wooden seat swivels. The low back is perfect because it gives a bit of back support without hitting the countertop or getting in the way. Overall, these are stylish, functional, and exactly what I wanted. Perfect!.
