Beautiful knife hits well above its price point. I have been owning and using Japanese knives in professional kitchens for the better part of 3 decades and this knife performs as well or better than knives from misono, Masahiro and others and costs far less. My wife liked a smaller santoku from our crummy knife block because it fit well in her hand and was more comfortable to use than my chefs knives but it was duller than Trump supporters. I decided to purchase this when it was on sale for a gift since Shun has a good reputation with their knives. It came plenty sharp and looks really nice on our magnetic knife strip with some other Japanese steel from my collection. My only gripe is that it doesn't hold its edge as long as I'd hoped it would. This is a beautifully crafted knife. The blade is beautiful and made with the devotion that Japanese craftsmen are famous for. The wooden handle is a lovely dark brown and fits nicely in my hand.
