I wonderd whether a 40 watt bulb would give out enough light but it is just perfect for ambience, In fact, I used the dimmer to soften the light a bit more. The only caution I would have is that you can see the bare bulb when you are standing up and looking directly down on the lamp, Therefore, I don't have it on an end table that is chair height (the glare would bother me). The packaging was perfect and the shade was probably damaged before it was packed. Second, the paint which covers the dragonflies on the base looks very good when the base light is off, but looks thin and poorly applied when turned on. The lamp is beautiful but not as bright as I anticipated. I used a 60 watt e12 led bulb as it’s the highest it will allow and still not a lot of light. I would consider this more of a statement piece over functionality of it being a lamp. It’s not super heavy the base seems to be hollow. Be aware, the green yellow has an extremely yellow light. I had warm white bulbs 2700 kelvin and it looked like a yellow bug light. I changed them to bright white 3000 kelvin and it helped, substantially.
