This mirror features rich varying sienna and gold contrasted by an outer border of white and ambers tones creating additional effects of depth and contrast in this reverse-painted art mirror. Set into an octagonal, angled and multi reflective carved frame design the technique used embodies an art form developed hundreds of years ago in the small villages of the Andes mountains. The artists were able to create colorful objects utilizing indigenous vegetable and plant-based colors. The techniques evolved over the years from generation to generation and expanded to painting hides and pottery, it was later discovered that by using this technique and by painting on the reverse side of the glass that the colors and designs were even more beautifully magnified. Today they are even further enriched by backing the painting panels with gold and silver leaf foils.

This is absolutely stunning, the perfect piece to place in my foyer. I needed something substantial as I have 10ft ceilings and this, at almost 8ft tall is perfect. It is a solid piece, weighing over 100 lbs and does take 2 people to move into position. We also secured it using the attached wire with bolts into the wall studs to prevent any mishaps. The delivery was smooth, 2 people brought in the mirror (still in its box) and placed it in the entryway. We took care of unboxing and placement - a bit of a chore, if you are not handy would recommend paying for someone to do it. This mirror is just the right level of sophistication without being gaudy/overly decorative and I highly recommend if you have the space. A true statement piece.. Ps. Overland Park, KS. Beautiful mirror! Well made! Only issue we found was that we had to drill our own holes in the back of it to attach it to the dresser with the pieces given. Very heavy solid mirror. You would need studs to hang it on wall.. Jeremy. Las Cruces, NM. Mon Mar 30 2020
