This bed is a beautiful soft velvet and the color is lovely. The design is very beautiful as well. The directions say it only takes 30 minutes to put together but I did take me about an hour. I usually put things together alone but I needed help doing the footboard because it is very hard to balance and out the screws in alone. So keep that in mind when you begin constructing. The directions are very clear and it comes with a with a fantastic ratcheting style allen wrench which makes things go faster than normal. It arrived in 2 weeks after purchase. Well packed and efficiently delivered. No damages. I took off a star because of a few issues 1) the assembly instructions are inconsistent. The corner where the sideboards and the headboard connect have two bolts. The instructions implye that they should be at the same level, such that the corner adapter can slide in hand fasten them together .However they were not. 2) one of the groves on the metal frame could not geip the screw provided. This bed is truly beautiful - solid as a rock and the wood is great quality. My husband and I assembled it ourselves, with minimal fuss. My only wish is that the color of the leather on the headboard looks like it does in the picture - an off-white (almost white) matte. Instead it is a darker cream color with a pearl (almost irridescent) sheen which knocks the attractiveness down for me. Just be aware it is not white or even off-white.. Christine. North Andover, MA.
