My husband had to drill out the bracket holes so that the screws would fit, and it was really hard to line up the base onto the screws. You may want to consider professional installation. We have a ceiling light in a hallway that does not have a wall switch so the ceiling fixture requires a pull chain. This is an excellent low profile option on its own (no ceiling fan). Great light. Uses standard base bulbs, so we put 8x 100w equivalents over our kitchen table. It’s plenty bright so added a dimmer switch and it’s perfect. Was a little difficult to install but it's just what we needed in our open kitchen.
