This sizable, freestanding etagere bookcase is both industrial and vintage-inspired, a dynamic way to organize any room in your home. It has a crisp, clean-lined open metal frame with X-shaped braces in back for exceptional support. Numerous shelves are crafted from engineered wood with a distinctive finish. These surfaces provide lots of space to hold books, framed photos, and much more. At about 69" wide, this bookcase is a great display area against one wall or a handy room divider. A wall anchor is also included for extra safety and stability.

We spray painted metal towers and covered shelves with white wood grain contact paper to lighten up this dark set. Quite easy to put together with two people with half stands propped on ottoman. Did put together top and bottom with holes facing wrong way and had to remove and flip one bottom tower so that joining screws found holes. Very wobbly and definitely anchored to wall on either side. Assembly is required, but the steps are easy to understand.

I wanted a shelving unit for my old VHS collection that had a unique appearance and wasn't just a basic rectangle. The shelf sizing was the perfect fit and it looks great fully assembled. The assembly is very time consuming and exhausting, which is to be expected with any furniture product that ships. I highly recommend using an electric screwdriver for time and to protect your hands. I did the whole thing myself in about 3.5 hours and my hands took a week to heal from using a regular screwdriver. If you're not into labor-intensive assembly, then you'll need help from someone you know or a professional. If you're not strong, balanced, or coordinated, then you will 100% need someone to help you during the step to lift the top into place over the bottom half. It's heavy. I did it myself, which was risky and thought for sure I was making a mistake it until it rather-quickly slid over the connector nubs. Moving the bookcase into place is also best with help. I dragged mine on smooth flooring and, because of the weight, some of the rubber protection left streaks that were tough to wash off. You'll also want to be sure the surface you're building on is clean. The surface of the wood will scratch and be noticeable on the black boards. I didn't do a great job vacuuming and wiping the area down before starting. My fault. Anyway, I love the end result. The only things that may be questionable for some buyers are the stickers that hide the screw heads and the little plastic brackets that secure the backing. Firstly, the stickers will begin to peel if you get any fingerprint residue on them before applying or if your home is too humid. They do give you extras if you make a few mistakes. I didn't use the plastic brackets for the backing though. You have to drill them into the wood, making your own holes. I didn't want to risk damaging the product. I'm sure they have a good purpose but I left them off. The product does include anti-tipping hardware. If you have kids and/or pets, you may want to secure it to the wall. As for the ordering process, the shipping to delivery timeframe is a mild rollercoaster. They are honest about keeping you updated, which is a lot. Sometimes too much. You have to watch the updates because my delivery was delayed by Fed Ex and their own updates often make zero sense. I was exhausted just from having to be available at changing times. Not on Wayfair, just the delivery process. Be sure to carefully inspect every single part for damage or signs of a returned product, and that you received everything listed in the manual BEFORE you begin. I like the design. For anyone that has books or dvd's it maybe hard for them to prop up alone without support. Only issues is the packers at the warehouse or manufacture packed it with scuffs in the black paint on multiple parts. I tried to hide them toward the back side. I would send it back for a replacement but Wayfair charges for shipping it back to the price of the item. The carriers beat up the package during transit for sure. These paired shelving units were just what my small business was looking for to store our store's product. Each unit took about 1/2 hour to assemble with two people working together. After putting the first unit together, the second happens much more quickly. The units' brown shelving match my wall shelving so that was a plus. The units are sturdy and balanced.
