Like most reviewers, this mat is not the thickest. We need to put it on our padded area rug to sleep on it overnight, but it's great for watching tv beside my little dog, who isn't allowed on our sofa. This floor mattress is pretty comfortable considering it is only 4 and on the floor. It did not come shrink wrapped, but it seemed way too flat at first I let it air out before making a review. At first, it was only 2 inches, but after a few days out of the plastic wrapping it came in, it is decidedly 4. I guess it was flattened during packaging. Excellent quality at an excellent sale price. I ordered 3 packs of these to cover a 14ft x 14ft area for our 12ft above ground pool. These tiles protect the bottom of the pool and provide a soft surface while inside the pool. These tiles fit together well and we have had no issues so far. These tiles are of much better quality than tiles I purcahsed in the past from a discount hardware store (HF), and were less expensive too!!
