The size works, but it feels slightly limiting when I want to pack a heartier serving. Even so, they have a solid, sturdy feel and they clean up easily, which I appreciate on busy evenings when I am trying to get everything ready for the next day. The ceramic bowls themselves wash beautifully, but the plastic lids behave like most plastic lids do and tend to stain when used with tomato‑based soups or sauces. Because of that, I have been avoiding tomato dishes when packing lunches. Where these crocks truly shine is breakfast prep. They are the perfect size for yogurt parfaits layered with fruit and berries, and I love that the set includes four. It allows me to prepare several breakfasts at once and keep them ready in the refrigerator for the week. Truly elegant! The picture on the website does not depict how beautiful this dish really is. When I unpacked it, I told myself this is not an everyday casserole dish. More like a dish you bring out on holidays or special occasions so you can get compliments. I do like the ease of cleaning it and the fact that you can cook in it and serve directly from it. The most important fact about this dish for me is that it is not too heavy, because as I am getting older, I have to worry about that. I still love to cook a lot of pasta dishes for family and friends, like lasagna so the weight of a dish really matters. Also, this looks like a dish that will get pass down from grandma, because like the product name states it is stoneware and it looks like a keepsake dish.
