The cabinet is metal, and while it’s not extremely sturdy when being moved — mainly because the back consists of two thin panels secured together — it feels perfectly stable once assembled and in place. The glass panels allow you to see the shoes, though I’m considering frosting them for a cleaner look since I don’t need them visible. Taller boots may not fit unless you remove or adjust a shelf. Love this shoe bench. Perfect size for the area I bought it for, the walk through from the garage into the house. I love this shoe rack! I have a small room so the small footprint is perfect for me! However, pay attention to the measurements. It’s great for casual shoes but I tried to put a pair with about 2” heels and they don’t fit unless laid on their side. I wear a women’s size 8 12 and my shoes take up the whole shelf.
