I am so glad it was hinged and only 3 sections. Very easy to put together! There is only one issue I have with this tree. Upon unfolding all of the little individual stems one completely broke off. So I had to bend it around another little frawn to fill up the gap it left when it broke off. But I would still recommend this tree. It has a beautiful full shape. I can't wait until Christmas! Well I put it up Thanksgiving and on a scale of 1 to 10 I give it a 15! It turned out so beautiful! I did it all in champagne gold, champagne pink and platinum silver. This tree is perfect! I wanted a smaller tree that I could easily assemble on my own. It is about my height 5'5", and I like that it is not pre-lit.
