Heavy lamps, very sturdy. The glass is beautiful. I suggest using candelabra bulbs so you can't see them hanging down when you're sitting on the couch. UPDATE: Finding the right bulb has been a problem. the candelabra bulbs work best but when I'm sitting on the couch next to the lamp the light is too strong on my eyes. I guess it would be better if I had shorter end tables. I wish the shades were longer... then the bulbs wouldn't be visible when sitting beneath them. This is NOT "Every Meyda Tiffany item is a unique, handcrafted work of art." as noted in the description of this lamp. I have a Meyda product and it IS handcrafted and did not come with a "Made in China" sticker on it like this lamp (see photo). This is a cheap knock-off and not even worth returning. I finally received two that weren’t broken. The light sockets on two shipments were fractured off. I suggest opening the bottom of the package first. The light sockets are in the bottom, it’s easier to reseal the box if it’s broken. Glass shade is well protected. The manufacturer needs to rethink packaging the lamp differently.
