We are still tweaking where to place these two lights we purchased. Our driveway entrance is darker than dark. These lights focus the light up the trunk of 2 very large spruce trees on either side of the driveway. The solar panel has a long cord which helps them get away from the shadow of the trees. These are very bright & do have hefty stakes to put in the ground. Only drawback is a longer cord option would help when using to light a larger dark space. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Ok, let’s talk about build quality. This thing is robust. Appears to be mostly cast iron with a powder coat finish. It’s incredibly strong and durable and even the stake you put into the ground is powder coated cast iron. It has well protected solar panel (again on a cast iron base) that won’t be easily damaged. The switches that turn the light on and off and also change the warmth are covered by a clear silicone so that they are weather proof. The light has a sensor so it only comes on when the ambient light is low enough to require a light source. The throw is pretty good. Works well for lighting up my boulder (we are going to inscribe it soon). It feels like it would do ok for a flag pole but maybe not as bright. Installing the light is a breeze. There is a ton of extra wiring that can be easily wrapped around the solar panel. It comes with two stakes to allow for separate location of panel and light or you can attach them together on one stake as I did. I highly recommend this solar light for your landscaping projects!. I bought 7 sets of these. They are heavy duty they seem well made. I will say that they werent packaged well, or possibly repackaged they had fallen out and some of the black paint was scraped off. It’s effective as you can see in the picture , however I am not sure it’s the most elegant or appealing light. The glass is under the big surface so you can’t really see it .
