This design is inspired by the works by Calder and architectural themed art glass windows. We created a background of randomly sized squares and rectangles to form a grid pattern. Then, different sized circles were set in a random pattern to create the basis of the design. Lastly, the color was added to mimic one of our favorite architectural features, a beautiful stained-glass window.

This design is inspired by the woodpecker tapestry, 1885, by William Morris (1834-1896). William Morris was an important British textile designer, artist, and writer who dominated the creative design force we know as the arts & crafts movement. Morris described tapestry weaving as the noblest of the weaving arts. The woodpecker tapestry is unusual in that it was one of very few designed by William Morris in its entirety. In the Rennie & Rose tradition, we have adapted this striking design for our woven home décor products, and with today's homes in mind. The level of color, depth, and detail in the weaving is extraordinary!

The level of color, depth, and detail in the weaving is extraordinary!

Flowers & vines have been a popular design for us, so we decided to add another colorway. This time we chose to create a versatile, light, pastel palette that complements the design elements while offering a soft feel which pairs equally well in a casual or dressed-up environment. The design is based on one of our favorite architectural details, a stunning stained-glass window. Extraordinary weaving and depth of color.

As avid bird fans, we love this expressive pair of birds and stylized roses. We adapted this design from the book covers of Talwin Morris, architect, graphic designer, and artist. He is best known for his Glasgow Style, book designs for Blackie & Son in the late 19th century, and his association with Charles Rennie MacIntosh.
