My autistic son loves to cook, and this enables him to participate more safely - he loves this thing, and I love anything that makes him happy. Only challenge with this cutter is it's a challenge to make the thinner fries [the smaller grid], I understand this is a common problem with all of these potato cutters. Definitely cuts better when you put narrow end of vegetable first [don't cut them in half & put flat surface against 'blade', harder to push through]. Takes a FIRM, quick push down to work most effectively. Attempted carrots/cucumbers also, same challenge - large grid blade works but small grid doesn't work quite as well. Maybe it will work better cut into smaller pieces, haven't experimented too much with it yet. But the large one works fine for our purposes, and it's nice to enjoy the family time together preparing such food.

This french fry cutter works great on Irish potatoes but I haven't tried it out on sweet potatoes. I'll know more about it when I use it on a sweet potato. Prices are too high right now for buying sweet potatoes. It's easy to take apart to wash and put back together. I would recommend it for anyone who has arthritis in their hands, it's a handy kitchen product.

I like homemade french fries. I've kinda gotten used to french fry makers being disposable - the thin cutter blades just don't stand up against the potatoes for long. This is the first horizontal cutter I have owned, since pushing down always seemed to make more sense to me. First, these blades seem to be thinner and tougher than most, so the potato doesn't push against them as much. Second, they are sharp! I don't know how long they will remain this way, but for now they do a great job of slicing through the potato. I did have to make one adjustment - don't let the potato sit in the holder - it will sometimes adjust when the cut starts and then the cutter tries to push the potato down, which just jams the whole works and puts a lot of stress on the blade. Instead, lift the potato up a bit so there is some room for it to adjust up or down as the cutter moves.

My grand kids where here from Tn. We had a B-Q and the kids wanted fries. I let them make their own with the Potato Cutter. I bought them one for Christmas. I use this a lot to make Sweet Potato fries. Very sturdy and good pricing.

excellent quality, had been looking for this item in other stores and all I found was plastic. This item does its job plus more. Can't beat the price. Strongly recommend.
