My last pressure cooker dated from the 50, I acquired it from an aunt, it was definitely time for a replacement. After searching the market for the best available I decided to by a Fagor. Now that I am using it I really see what pressure cooking is all about. Easy to use, and of course the taste of the food is so much better. I use my Fagor pressure cooker at least 3 times a week, from meats, vegetables,rice and I even tried spaghetti sauce and bread pudding what a great result. Could not get a healthier way to cook food. When ask by Wayfair to review one of their products, I already knew I would choose the Fagor Pressure Canning Set. I've never used one before and was a little apprehensive, but excited to give it a try. Being provided with the product in no way influenced my review. I read the manual, but the included DVD gave me all the confidence I needed to get started. Reading and then being able to see a demonstration made the difference. I've made dried beans, chicken soup and also the Peanut and Chicken Stew recipe from the DVD. All were fast, easy and delicious! This method of cooking really retains the flavors of my ingredients, unlike a slow cooker that cooks it out. I love the little pop up thingy that tells me when the pressure is built up and its time to start timing my recipe; it takes out all the guess work. I also love being able to cook faster; saves me time in the kitchen and energy costs. I've wanted to do some canning, but all the canners I saw were too big for my emptynest household. This one does four quarts or four pints at a time and that's perfect for a small family. I would recommend this for a wedding gift. The only thing I didn't like was that it comes with a rack, but I wish it was the kind with the handles for easy lifting in and out. Overall, I'm extremely pleased with this product and highly recommend it to others who are interested in pressure cooking. I am a Chef Insturctor at a cooking school in CA. I used the Fagor 6 quat pressure cooker in class to cook about 2 lbs. of beef shoulder. It took just over 1 hour. Braising the same meat on the cook top would have taken at least 2 plus hours. I would not have had the time to complete the dish without using the Fagor. This Fagor set is a good value. Not "cheap junk", but not outrageously expensive either. The bottoms are heavy-duty and work very well on my electric stove. I do what the book recommends, and start on one burner set at "high" and then move to a second burner pre-warmed to "medium", and that works great. The stainless-steel cleans up very nicely, but per-recommendation, I wash by hand. The combo of 4-qt and 8-qt is just right, in my opinion. The little one works well for rice or veggies, and the big one can handle most roasts. There is also a 4qt & 6qt set available, but I am glad that I bought the 4/8qt instead. Pressure cooking has opened up a whole realm of menu possibilities for things that had been too long and difficult before. Doing a roast in 60-minutes package-to-plate rather than 4-6 hours really expands the options. So far, no complaints with the product at all."..."  Read more
