1960: Henry Melzer returns home from WWII. With extraordinary linguist ability, speaking a multitude of languages, Henry becomes a partner in Remco International, an import/export firm, buying and selling houseware products from around the world.
1971: Remco opens its first stocking distribution center in Puerto Rico.
1975-1985: Vandel International is formed by Henry Melzer and associates, specializing in distributing houseware products to domestic retailers. Henry’s son, Steven joins the firm.
1991: Vandel continues its expansion, opening four distribution centers across the country.
1994: Epoca is founded by Steven, concentrating on Italian made imports.
1995: Epoca obtains the North American distribution for Ballarini, an international recognized cookware brand, along with other famous Italian houseware brands.
2000: Steven founds Primula and begins distribution of espresso coffee makers under this brand.
2005: Epoca expands its distribution facility and pushes forward with technology initiatives to make the facility more efficient.
2007: Brian Melzer, Steven’s son, joins Epoca focusing on increasing the Primula product selection.
2008: Primula Tea experiences a large growth. Primula becomes the world’s largest purveyor of flowering teas.
2009: Epoca takes its cookware manufacturing expertise to China and Ecolution Cookware is founded.
2010: Epoca continues to expand its presence in China, opening two regional offices.
2011: Primula Cafe is created, bringing to life a store within a store concept. This merchandising concept is embraced by Macy's Department Stores and other culinary specialty shops. Epoca celebrates its 20th Anniversary.
Epoca Inc is a privately held corporation family business with a strong tradition and reputation for high quality products. Their history dates back to 1946.
