The color on this is a nice dark red, but for some reason I cannot get a super accurate color shot, although these are fairly close. The first picture was taken 'outside' on a sunny but cloudy day, and the second picture was indoors. The reason for the lower score is that this "quilt" cosists of two layers of the red fabric and a very thin layer of some type of iron on pelon. There is no actual quilting stitches on this. You get the appearance of a quilt based on the small holes stamping the three layers togther. Unfortunatly, you can see the white color pelon through the holes which kind of ruins the look for me. (See photos) It is pretty lightweight, and I was hoping for slightly heavier, but it's for summer which gets in the triple digits areound here, so it might be fine at this weight. When I first opened this package there was a slight chemical odor, and the fabric was very stiff. I took a chance and ran it through the washer & dryer, which elimiated all odor and softened the fabric considerably. Based on reviews for multiple quit covers, I purchaed a king size to fit a queen bed. I prefer some draping around the sides of the bed, and enough to pull over all the pillows we have, so I order larger sizes often. Only bad thing about this, is two of the shams is for a king sized pillow which I do not have. I think I can take them in later though. I thought this 'pretend' quilt was a little overpriced, but if it hold up well through multiple washings, and the pelon does not seperate from the fabric, since it is not stiched together, it will be worth it..
