I have been looking for a new jewelry armoire for several years - one combining size, style, color, a reasonable price, and above all, sturdiness of construction. This one finally fit the bill, but upon arrival, had a critical flaw. The instruction book is incomplete, curious since there's plenty of white space to include the detail needed to attach the top to the unit. There did not appear to be holes pre-drilled in the top to assist in what is already an awkward installation, requiring two people and significant force to hold the lid in place while it's attached by a second person. It took some time for two of us to position the lid against the holes of the metal hinge, measure, then mark them w/a silver marker that would be visible against the black wood. Thankfully I had one. I decided to begin the holes with a small nail and a hammer, only to discover there WERE pre-drilled holes (Yay! We measured correctly). Why not make these holes obviously visible, maybe with red dots?!? But that alone didn't make the lid installation any easier. We fumbled with the tiny screws and eventually began each into the lid, but three days later, they still are not all the way in to make the lid firmly attached. It's shaking. Heading out today to buy a new Phillips head screwdriver we hope will be the correct size to complete this screwy installation. I went onto the manufacturer's website, where there are videos, but oddly none that show how to attach the lids to their jewelry armoires - important info for buyers. I sent a Customer Service email. Three days later, no response. C'mon people. This item is pricey. It's substantial and beautiful - so much so I moved it into a more visible spot - but the whole lid debacle is tarnishing my joy. Do better.
