Very nice and large TV stand for the price. Bought to go with my black/grey/white farmhouse living room decor and it was a great fit. And it was delivered about 2 weeks earlier than the predicted delivery date! Lots of storage space in the shelves and on top...and now I just need a bigger TV to go on it! I'm a young female and attempted to assemble it by myself..it's definitely doable, but there are so many things to screw in that I would recommend at least 2 people assemble it so that it takes half the time (took me about 2.5-3 hours). I was able to get it 98% assembled by myself, but struggled with the final step to get the doors on the front because the screws don't line up well without an extra set of hands to hold the doors in place. There isn’t really anything big that concerns me about this TV Stand, but like other reviewers, I did notice that the little doors don’t close all the way. It has a magnet inside so it doesn’t swing open (see picture attached) but I’m guessing that the layoutinstructions for this piece made the magnet stick out more to where the doors couldn’t completely close. It did take extremely long for my boyfriend and I to put together, maybe about 2-2.5 hours. Other than that, I don’t really have any complaints. It works well with our 55” TV. So I knew I was taking a risk buying open box. That being said, there are ALOT of cosmetic issues with this set. Pieces are chipped, damaged, falling apart and flaking. I found a piece literally stepped on by a shoe with an imprint. I still put it all together because I can paint the small issues and repair what’s broken. Most of the issues are on the inside and unable to see from afar. No quality control at all. The box was nearly ripped open when it got to my house and the styrofoam was in crumbles. Love! I went with the ‘Grey Wash’ and am SO HAPPY that I did. The sample photos online showed different color tones for the grey wash, so I was worried about what it would actually look like. The unit has a great driftwood appearance to it, and it is not as dark as I was worried it would be. My photos show how the lighting / time of day does change the hue a bit, so that characteristic may not be for everyone. The photo where the unit appears darker, is during the day and in natural light. The others are at night with overhead lighting. For sizing, the TV on my unit is 46”, so you can definitely go bigger. And the fireplace, though only 4” deep, is still very realistic! Even when turned off, you cannot tell how close the back of the fireplace really is. People come in and are very impressed with how real it looks, especially for how little I spent! Assembly: the extra $68 was worth it! The person from Handy showed up right on time and had it done in 1.5 hours, half the time as most other reviews. For those who do it themselves, he did mention that a longer drill extension is needed for the fireplace installation. First, I want to say that the reason that I'm giving this piece 5-stars is because one of the stars is for me, because I had to put it together myself!! The only thing my husband can fix is his plate and my granddaughter only offered intermittent help, enough to keep me from fussing! But, at last, it's done and it's beautiful! It arrived earlier than expected and was wrapped securely and contained all the necessary hardware and clear instructions for assembly. I'm glad I chose the "Stone wash" it really brightened up the living room. I love the glass doors on this stand, because it offers a jazz to it and provides a window to view precious keepsakes. The glass it self has some thickness to it, not flimsy at all. The the shelves are pretty sturdy too, but I don't recommend over doing the books, rather, put the books on the bottom shelves. As for the fireplace, it's the wow factor! We love it! It puts out great heat and I don't need to be worried about the grand-girls burning themselves, because it has a tempered glass screen.
