Introducing the HGTV® Dream Home 2017

Exclusive! Peek inside this Southern-inspired seaside home, furnished by Wayfair.

Located on St. Simons Island, Ga., surrounded by lush greenery and stunning water views, this one-story home was renovated inside and out. The design by Brian Patrick Flynn mixes sophisticated and casual elements to complement the natural surroundings and encourage relaxation. A white shingled exterior, contrasting dark shutters, and clean-lined columns allow the house to stand out amid the palm and oak trees draped in Spanish moss.

Inside, neutrals and earth tones are enhanced by crisp whites and natural materials. A vaulted ceiling in the foyer is bisected by a wood beam, tying into the paneled ceilings in the open-plan living areas. A chandelier with subtle metallic beadwork, large-scale art, and a sculptural table add texture and interest.

Living Room

Casual white sofas, cozy throws, and accent pillows in metallics, browns, and dark greens invite guests to make themselves at home and relax, while a cool chandelier and structured armchairs up the ante. The layered wooden finishes and tones of the peaked ceiling panels, coffee table, and trendy sliding barn door provide consistency without veering too matchy-matchy. The room's symmetrical layout draws the eye out through the sliding glass doors, which flood the room with natural light.

Dining Room

The dining room channels an intimate museum gallery, with moody walls and an eclectic art collection—including a Roman-style bust. Incorporating practical elements, like a concrete tabletop and slipcovered chairs, ensures the space is both beautiful and functional. The sculptural chandelier, with a sleek metal finish and spherical bulbs, is the perfect statement piece to tie the room together.

    Kitchen

Open to the living room and next to the backyard, the eat-in kitchen is optimally located for entertaining. Generous seating is provided at the island and a separate breakfast table. Shaker cabinets painted a gray-beige keep the focus on the speckled green marble countertops and glass subway tile backsplash, which reflect the foliage visible outside. Curved wicker chairs soften the hard lines of the kitchen, while incorporating more natural materials. The style of the chandelier echoes the piece in the dining room, creating a cohesive look.

    Master Bedroom

The deep blue palette instantly creates a calming, relaxing space. A painted ceiling provides a cozy, enveloping atmosphere. Darker shades of teal, navy, indigo, as well as mahogany are paired with white textiles to provide balance. The geometric pillows, shibori rug, and sculptural avian decoration above the bed infuse playful texture into the space.

    Master Bathroom

In this spa-like retreat, shiplap walls painted powder blue recall the master bedroom, but create a lighter feel. A wooden dresser adds storage (and another decorating opportunity), while a large porcelain soaking tub overlooks the backyard for luxuriating with a view.

    Lounge

With bay windows and sliding French doors opening directly onto the backyard patio and pool, the lounge area offers a respite from the hot Georgia sun. A mixture of blue textiles, including a softly textured wallpaper, contrasts warm-hued camel leather chairs. The unique candelabra, a dense cluster of faux candles, draws the eye up to the expansive peaked ceiling, creating an airy space.

Perhaps the most enviable feature of this swoon-worthy home is the expansive backyard, which features water views of neighboring Sea Island. Plush neutral lounge chairs flank the pool, with deep emerald accent pillows pulled from Mother Nature's palette. A fire pit surrounded by Adirondack chairs encourages guests to linger outside if the temperatures dip slightly.
