Relatively easy install, just took time. Solid construction. There is a metal bar that runs under top bunk, that I purchased pipe foam insulation to cover it as I knew it was just a matter of time before a child hit there head really hard on it. While solid wood, it does indent/mark easily, I have two rambunctious boys who quickly put multiple dents in it and cracked the wood where the ladder attaches by pulling up on the ladder, but probably sonething similar would happen with any bed that we got!. The assembly went decently well. My DIL put it together with my granddaughter holding pieces once in awhile. Took about 8 hours. Hint: do not tighten down until it is assembled, including the ladder. Update: They still love the bed, and I thought i'd add a picture. The wood is more like a rustic whitewash. It doesn't look as well as the picture and who ever shipped it, left it in the rain. The box was falling apart, and luckily I found it and took every piece in by hand, and dried them off. No damage done, but It was unnecessary to leave it like that in the rain when they could have left it next door at my parent's who have an over covering on their porch. Both DIL and granddaughter got on top bunk. It felt sturdy and didn't move around. We did get a bunky board for top because mattress is foam. The girls love it and are having fun putting their dolls and stuffys around. Very unhappy with delivery. Boxes falling apart. Fed ex stood one up at bottom of deck stairs. We are having g sporadic thunder storms. No plastic was place around packages, so the box fell apart and all the wooden pieces fell and were rained on. I had a mess! I had to remove one piece at a time into home and dry it off. It took a couple people a few hours dealing with two wet opened boxes. The bed was poorly packaged and fed ex left a mess! Overall the bed is nice. My son really wanted a loft type bed so we chose this one for the look and also based on the good reviews. A lot of people said it was fairly easy to put together. The directions kinda sucked and it was just annoying to put together. Everything was labeled nicely at least. The insert with the Allen type key bolt isn’t our favorite type of securing mechanism but we cut the Allen key and made a drill bit making it a lot easier. Some of the wood pieces weren’t perfect or hollowed out enough. A piece actually came damaged but Wayfair sent out a new one right away, which was much appreciated. It doesn’t feel like the most solid structure. It’s fine to be sleeping on but I did warn my 4 year old not to be jumping or hanging on it. Time will tell how it holds up.. Gina. Ny, NY. This bed is AWESOME! My 9yo daughter loves it and so does her 11yo brother. She’s tall for her age and our ceilings are on the low side (house built in 1982), but she’s able to be comfortable when she’s in her bed without issue. I wanted to find something to maximize her small bedroom and allow flexibility. Right now she has a little sofa under it, but as she grows, we’ll be able to rearrange the space into something different! She went from hating her room to loving it. It did have a small flaw on the white pieces, but it was small enough to not worry about, considering what the kids will put it through. Cannot recommend this bed enough.
