It was destroyed by fire in 1697 in Chatham.

The Black Pearl is easily recognized in the screenplay by her distinctive black hull and sails. This is an advantage in more than one way. The ship was originally named Wicked Wench before she was ordered burned and sunk by Lord Beckett[citation needed]. It was later raised from the sea floor by Davy Jones after making a pact with Jack Sparrow who rechristened her the Black Pearl. She is said to be ''nigh uncatchable''. Indeed, in the three films she either overtakes or flees all other ships, including the Interceptor (regarded as the fastest ship in the Caribbean) and the Flying Dutchman (which is actually faster against the wind). Her speed is derived from the large amount of sails she carries. She is noted in At Worlds End as being ''The only ship as what (which) can outrun the Flying Dutchman.'' The Black Pearl is one of the locations that can be visited in the Port Royal world of Kingdom Hearts II.

Guerriere. It was during the ferocious battle with the Guerriere that British seamen, astonished at how their cannonballs were bouncing off the constitution's hull, cried out, ''Sir, her sides are made from iron'' hence, the nickname, ''old ironsides.'' the constitution today is a national landmark and is docked in boston.

Impressive model! I haven't even removed it from the packaging as yet. I am a woodworker and planning to construct a case for it as I did for the Independence, a model I finished this year. Only question I have is about the masts when first received. Upon opening the top of the shipping box I remember all the sails were 90 degrees to the hull. Now after 2 days, all the sails are 30 degrees to the left. I included a shot looking down at the model. I was interested to know if others have noticed this or am I mistaken? Also found this after unpacking (see picture) of rear mast warped at top. "General Francis Marion at the Battle of Eutaw Springs" by Thomas B. Welch depicts Francis Marion, known as the "Swamp Fox," leading his militia men at the Battle of Eutaw Springs (September 8, 1781), one of the last major battles of the American Revolution in the Southern theater. His contributions were vital to the American forces under General Nathanael Greene in South Carolina. Marion led a brigade of South Carolina militia, which was part of the advance line of Greene’s forces. His men, along with other militia units, opened the battle by engaging the British pickets. Marion’s militia, alongside Brigadier General Andrew Pickens' troops, initially clashed with the British under Colonel Alexander Stewart. The militia fought well but eventually fell back as planned, allowing Greene’s Continental Army regulars to move forward and continue the attack. Though the battle ended with neither side claiming a decisive victory, it weakened British control in South Carolina. The British forces at Eutaw Springs suffered heavy casualties and were forced to retreat to Charleston, effectively losing their hold on the state. Marion continued leading guerrilla operations against British outposts until the war’s end.
