This thing is heavy duty, had some installation issues as the bolt pattern was a little different than the unit i replaced. The instructions don't mention what all the hardware is for but I recommend getting an extra long screw extension and some screws with washer built in. The angle brackets they included for what i assume is a cabinetless setup came in handy to hold it up while I got the top screws in. Its quite heavy compared to old unit needed to reinforce cabinet to hold the weight. Also cut off the plug to do a direct wire install. Performance is very good so far and not very loud. The only think I am not crazy about is the bright halogen lights, they should be further back so it illuminates whole stove more than your eyes. Overall this is a solid unit in its price range and I can finally put battery back in my smoke detector. I spent a long time researching powerful exhaust fans to replace a non-ducted microwave exhaust. A recirculating exhaust is almost worthless at removing grease and cooking odors. I love cooking and often make dishes with strong odors I don't want to smell when I finish. This fan is so powerful yet not overly loud. It has removable stainless grates that can be put in the dishwasher. It's beautiful while not as overwhelming in size as many exhaust fans are. I had two issues with the installation. One was the cardbord template they supplied, it was a little bit off on one hole location. Remeasure all the location holes on the hood to confirm the actual location points. The other was the 6 inch exaust outlet. My 6 inch exaust pipe was very difficult to fit over it, since both had the same dia. However there are special adaptor rings available from your hardwood store, so they fit properly together. This is my first baffle filter hood, looks great and overall satisfied with all the functions and performance . Eventhough this is nice looking, Im giving it 4 stars due to the fact it wobbles and Im worried my pans will fall. Its very weird how its made, dont know if its a defect. Cause no matter how I move it the grates still wobble. There is nothing to keep the grates from wobbling, we double check the box and nothing. Plus when cooking, the stove top stains very easy and I have to use baking soda to try and clean it. Nice but a little safety issue when it comes to the wobbling grates.. Francesca. La Quinta, CA.
