Even though it's far from being finished, my home office is already my favorite space in the house. A large part of me suspects that the gold polka dots are to blame. There is simply no space for negative emotions in a room covered with giant round golden goodness! I'm considering covering the entire house in gilded polka dots—just as soon as I mention this idea to the husband... Don't even get me started on the ghost chair, faux sheepskin throw, and oh-so-sophisticated nesting boxes!

Speaking of the husband, I'd like to take this moment to say what a gem he's been throughout this very-exciting-but-sometimes-quite-stressful redecorating adventure—oh-so-carefully applying the above-mentioned polka dot decals to the wall and spray painting the next object that falls victim to my obsession with gold. Every time I post a #FOSofficetour photo on Instagram, a flood of positive feedback comes pouring in, so I wanted to give you a glimpse into the progress so far. Hopefully it'll encourage you to beautify your own workspace.

Without further ado, here are five easy ways to dress up your home office:

1) Add a bouquet of fresh flowers. Did you know that in addition to brightening a room, flowers can actually improve your mood? To enjoy this simple pleasure without breaking the bank, opt for flowers, like carnations, which last a long time.

2) Tie the room together with a single hue . A variety of decorative accents in one color tmake any space feel cohesive. Here, the pink of the nesting boxes is repeated in the bouquet and desk accessories.

3) Group like objects . Items that share a common characteristic, like a color or texture, look adorable when paired up. I arranged a mixture of gold vases of varying shapes and sizes for visual interest.

4) Create a beautiful jewelry or perfume display . That way you'll feel like you're playing dress-up every morning. Plus, having it out in the open reminds you to actually wear it!

5) DIY it! Doesn't it seem like the people around you who have the most interesting lives are the ones who enjoy DIY projects? Try making something with your own hands—like these 'cheers' coasters or the striped gold vase you see in the photos. It doesn't even matter if you're any good; what matters is the thrill of using your own hands to create your own version of beauty.
