The tuxedo sofa takes its uniform back and armrest height, as well as its overall tufting from the Chesterfield, but swaps out the rolled arms and bulky cushions for clean straight lines. Both styles are timeless, but the updated version is undeniably modern, while its buttoned-up predecessor lends old-world sophistication.
Classic: Oriental Rug
Updated: Overdyed Oriental Rug
Modernizing the original with a wash of color, overdyed Oriental rugs trade in a traditional three-tone palette for a bright monochromatic one. Maintaining their character, these of-the-moment floor coverings take any room from classic to contemporary, while their counterparts lend a sense of tradition.
Classic: Louis Chair
Updated: Louis Ghost Chair
Swapping out luxurious upholstery and detailing for a minimalist acrylic construction, the Louis ghost chair retains the original's oval-shaped back and wide-leg frame. As design chameleons, both chairs fit into all styles, but the transparent ghost chair lends a lightness where the classic offers design gravitas.
Classic: Crystal Chandelier
Either option is a guaranteed statement maker, but the crystal drum chandelier is a subdued spin on the traditional. Preserving a formal elegance, the drum shade casts a diffused glow, whereas the iconic tiered chandelier radiates over-the-top sparkle.
Classic: Footstool
Replacing structured formality (impeccable upholstery and wood detailing) with a casual mix of embellishments (embroidery, fringe, and more), the pouf is a multifunctional modern day accent. While footstools are best used to rest your weary toes, poufs can also be called into action as extra seating.
