What Is a Fingertip Towel?

A fingertip towel is a small rectangular towel typically used for drying your hands after washing them – therefore, you’ll usually find it placed on the bathroom or kitchen countertop near the sink for easy access and convenience. Common in spas, fingertip towels are also great to use while getting ready in the morning or getting ready for bed. They’re made from soft and absorbent materials like cotton, so they're gentle on the skin and perfect for drying quickly and effectively.
Fingertip towels come in a variety of colors and designs, so they’re a stylish yet practical addition to your bathroom or kitchen. We love draping a fingertip towel over a coordinating hand towel or bath towel for a bit of functional decor.
At around 11" x 18", fingertip towels are larger than washcloths (13" by 13"), but smaller than hand towels (16" by 30") and bath towels (27" by 52").

Fingertip Towels vs. Washcloths vs. Hand Towels
Fingertip towels differ from other similar types of towels like washcloths and hand towels both in size and function. As mentioned above, washcloths are usually smaller in size than fingertip towels. As their name suggests, washcloths are used for washing the body or face, rather than drying hands. You usually find washcloths in the bathroom cabinet or linen closet, rather than sitting out on the counter as an extra piece of decor like fingertip towels.
Hand towels are slightly larger than fingertip towels, so they’re more versatile and can be found in either the bathroom or the kitchen. You can use a hand towel to dry your hands, face, or even to dry dishes after dinner. Fingertip towels are usually set out on counters or vanities. In contrast, hand towels often hung on towel bars or racks near sinks or showers for easy access. Both fingertip towels and hand towels work well as decorative accents.
