Three Easy DIY Dessert Toppers
No shame in your game! These ridiculously easy dessert toppers are just the trick for dressing up a store-bought (or homemade!) treat.

Sometimes there just isn't time to bake homemade treats! Luckily, all that store-bought cake or box of donuts needs is a little sprucing up with a bit of sparkle.
Here are three easy ways to make your average cake or donut look amazing and sparkly:

1. Disco balls on a stick
For this, all you need are the supplies (foam disco balls and bamboo skewers), and it's as easy as sticking the skewer into the ball. Bam, you're done!
You can gather them in the middle and have them go in different directions for a fireworks effect, or do a line or pattern with different heights or colored balls.
It's so easy, it's almost ludicrous. These would be really amazing for a holiday party.

2. Pipe cleaner typography
I bet you have these lying around somewhere in your crafts (or your kids' crafts, if you're like me). Just bend the pipe cleaners around into the letter, number, or shape you want. Go crazy!
I chose "YUM" because: donuts. Keep in mind that you'll need to stick the cleaners into the cake or donuts so make sure to leave some extra length wherever you want to anchor it.
I've also made this topper in script and it looks really cute. I simply twisted another pipe cleaner onto one side of each letter so I could stick it into the cake and all the pretty curves of the script were easily readable.

3. Glitter letter message
The last one takes a little more effort but just four supplies: glitter cardstock, skewers, scissors, and glue.
Cut the cardstock into letters or shapes and then glue those onto the bamboo skewers (or lollipop sticks or paper straws—really anything works for this).
Make sure your glitter cardstock is the non-shed kind because you'll want to eat those donuts at some point!
Tip: If your cutting skills aren't great, buy some wooden letters from your local craft store and glue those on instead! I made a detailed tutorial on how to make glitter ones on my blog .
Now I just really want to go out and eat a bunch of donuts, but I'm also really excited for the next party I throw because these were so easy! One thing to cross off your list the next time you play hostess.
