DIY: Wine Bottle Crafts

Hold off on recycling those empty wine bottles! Incorporate these bottles into your décor with some paint and a little creativity. Whether you're looking to update a bookshelf or tabletop, we've come up with three crafty ways to complement your decor that won't break the bank: candle holders, decorative accents, and bookends.

• First, remove wine labels from each bottle. For easy removal, soak the bottles in a sink or bucket filled with hot water to loosen the labels.

Candle Holder Wine Bottles

1) Choose two wine bottles similar in glass color but different in size. Create stripes and patterns on the bottles with painter's tape.

2) Apply a layer of paint with a small brush. Before paint is completely dry, apply one more layer. Pomptly remove the painter's tape for a clean edge.

3) Highlight the lines of your designs by applying an accent paint color (we used gold) with a thin brush. 
Supplies: Paint, painter's tape, paint brush, taper candles, and wine bottles.

Decorative Wine Bottles

1) Find three wine bottles in varying sizes to create a dynamic accent grouping.

2) Apply two layers of acrylic paint to each bottle with a medium paint brush. Choose a hue that complements the rest of your decor. (We chose white for its neutrality.)
 3. Wrap varying lengths of burlap, twine, or rope around the top of each bottle. Tie all three bottles together for a collective look. 
Supplies: Acrylic paint, painter's tape, paint brush, twine, and wine bottles.

Bookend Wine Bottles
1.Choose multiple wine bottles that vary in size and shape.
2.Spray each bottle with chalkboard spray paint in a well-ventilated area. Hold the can at least a few inches away from the bottle as you spray.
 3.Once the paint is completely dry, write a saying or design on the bottle with chalk for a personal touch.
