I spent a long time researching a dog door. One dog id 9lbs. the other 40lbs. and they both needed to use it. This one is great!! Very well constructed, door not to heavy for the little one to go through. Most of all it does not slap them on the behind as the use it, or drag along their backs. We trimmed the bottom just a hair with sizers to make the swing of the door easier for the little one. Being able to see through the door is a big plus.Very easy to install, I love it!

We bought an aluminum double flap door over 10 years ago and installed in a wall off a deck in a fenced yard which is exposed to wind. We have 4 large 60-100 lb dogs that use it all the time and also dogsit so often more than 4 - ours gets VERY hard use. We have replaced outside flap twice, (have to order online not available anywhere else). After several years the flaps do start curling from use/age so we replaced the outside one. Also, the flaps are not absolutely windproof when totally exposed (we live in Michigan and get severe wind and winter storms, the flaps will blow in with strong wind) however, we solved this by building a doghouse on the outside attached to wall and this year we built a new doghouse and added a single flap door to the doghouse - problem solved. If you could put opening in a corner, would prevent this problem. Would also be great going out of laundry room, unfortunately our laundry room is on the front of the house off the front porch and our fence is in back. We love our dogs, we have to have a dog door because we are gone 15 hours or more for work. Neighbors for pay were unreliable. We are very happy with this solution. It is not perfect, they leak some air when flaps start curling. Our dogs are good and safe and we are very happy with this door. One last comment, I would not buy a plastic one.

I use to live in Albany NY. I bought this and installed it in my wall by my back door for my 3 Pitbulls ranging from 50lbs to 90lbs. Not only did they love it, we did also. The yellow winter flap attaches to the inside of one of the flaps. Well I choice to buy a second yellow winter flap and attached it to the other flap too. No matter how cold it got outside, cold air NEVER came in. It worked so well that I times we forgot it was there and we would leave it unsecured all night long while we slept. ----- The cover that covers it up we used on the inside of the home. The way its designed, it hooks on the two sides of the frame. No matter how hard you push to pop it open from the outside it only grabs the frame harder preventing it from coming off. Because it's on the warm side it never got cold and never broke from the weather it worked flawlessly. Others that claim it breaks off or comes off easily with a push of the head from thier dog, must not have it installed correctly. If installed right... and the inside frame isnt secured extremely tight. It will lock on and stay on. ----- Now after living our whole lives in NY. And having the dog door installed for the last 4 years without issues. We decided about a month ago to move to Arizona. So now I'll be buying a second one for my home in Arizona. To keep the cold air in and the heat out. I know it wi work just as good as the one I bought while living in extreme cold in New York did. THANKS PETSAFE

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My wife and I have a large, elderly Alaskan Malamute. We work all day and wanted her to be able to go out whenever needed. It is getting much harder for her to hold it all day and she also enjoys the fresh air. We found the solution! This Aluminum Pet Door is wonderful! It did take some time to install but the directions were helpful and I got it put in quick. It’s modern and sleek and doesn’t clash with our decor. I was worried it might be an eye sore but you barely notice it is there! There has been a ton of rain the past week and we’ve had no problem with water coming in to this. Our Alaskan Malamute is quite up there in age. I was worried she wouldn’t use it because she’s not very good with change. The first week she was not interested. Then, the second week I started holding treats in my hand on the opposite side. She finally decided she would give it a try. It’s been a week and I feel confident to say it’s been a good choice so far. She doesn’t use it as much as I thought. She still asks for us to take her out and she seems nervous sometimes. I think the more she uses it the more she will get used to it. This is a wonderful product and I’m so glad you have a door that actually fits her size!

We purchased 3 of the extra large doors more than 4 years ago and they've worked perfectly for us. We have an odd configuration, hence needing 3 doors, so the dogs go from laundry room into garage, from garage into workroom, workroom to outside in back yard. All of the doors have functioned perfectly. We now have 4 dogs ranging from a 75 lb hound mix, to a 14 lb Pom/Chi mix and none of them have issues going through the door. Sadly, our 120 pup, the one we needed the extra large door for, passed away 2 years ago. But I love the extra large size. We recently adopted a very, very frightened Pit Bull. He is afraid of everything that makes noise, that included the "swoosh" noise of the doggie door. But after just a couple of weeks he got the hang of it and uses it now like he's been doing it all his life. The insert in the door to the outside is finally showing wear and letting in cold air, so I'm looking to replace either just the plastic insert, or the whole door if I can't get just the plastic, but we'll definitely stick with this brand. We have been pleased from day one with these doors. And the fact that we have 4 VERY active dogs who barrel through them, plus 5 grand-dogs who visit for dog parties, I can tell you, plastic or not, these are very well made doors. Don't be fooled by the plastic construction! I highly recommend these doors. With proper installation, they'll last you quite a while and are well worth the cost.

Pricy but after reading a lot of reviews for several doggie doors, I didn’t want to go with something cheap that wouldn’t last. After all, I’m putting a hole in my house for one. Door install was a bit involved but the contractor was impressed with its overall build. I also bought that awning. I do wish that the tracks weren’t a separate cost accessory to making the door easier to lock. That would be my only complaint that for this price point some sort of nicer interior lock mechanism would have been nice.

Love this. Our dog has killed every other dog door that has the flipper. This one is great. We have had it a year now and it’s been amazing. It has the ability to lock it with a key so nothing can come in if you are away. Kept the snow out. It’s great for the price. Very very happy. ..note we did have a contractor install this so I cannot comment on the installation.

This medal sliding track with lock works well with out giant Plexidor. We have the largest Plexidor offered (for a Great Dane) which is big enough for a human to enter through. We use the sliding door as protection when we are traveling, or if there is a chance of severe weather. Please note: when the sliding track is in place and pets are on the outside, the pets cannot see the door is covered on the inside. Our Great Dane almost always ran through the door from outside to inside at a very high speed. To prevent injury, I would tape a cardboard cover to the outside of the pet door to stop her. By doing this we never had any type of issue with trying to enter with the panel on.

The best thing we ever bought for our dogs....we have had regular dog doors in the past....they let in the cold, the weather and other critters and even people. We love this door.....it works great....the dogs go in and out as they please ....it was extremely simple to install and it keeps out the weather and other intruders. I would recommend this door to everyone.

The first one was the wrong size. The second came with Bullitt proof glass shattered. The third arrived in good shape. The tape materials ,The peace that goes between the door and window doesn't stick. Fixed it with strapping tape. the other tape materials that go between the pet door and the slider peals, but not between the cotton and the sticky material, but in the cotton. Ace was the place for a replacement piece. The door works as advertised.

despite looking at the dimensions, it seems larger in person. our cats have taken some time to get used to the sound of the door opening, they were frightened of it at first. has been working fine so far, hopefully will remain this way. easy to install overall, however the screws in one of the extension pieces were SOOO tight we had to use oil and hammer them for them to get removed. fortunately, we were able to get the screws out, it was getting to the point that we thought we may have had to return the door for another one.

This has changed my life. I no longer have to get up and down a million times to let my dogs in and out of the door. I bought the item for my dogs when planning a long trip. I thought it would allow the petsitter to let them go in and out during the day and then lock it at night. She loved it! And now she tells all her clients about the product! One problem - my chihuahua/fox terrior mix got her collar off and chewed it up. I was able to put the device on another collar but I wish it was easier to switch collars.

Other than one small gap in the frame, it is a perfect fit in my sliding door. I had tried to save some money and ordered from another manufacturer and the whole thing was so flimsy when I installed it in the door, i had to send it back, there was no way that it was going to survive my 80 lb Doberman. This one, however, is solidly built with double paned glass and a unique flap. I don't feel any of the Florida heat seeping through. I'm still training the pups on how to use it, but i can tell that this is going to last a long time. Highly recommend, it's worth the price.

So far so good the dogs seem to really enjoy it. It is definitely worth the money, great door, well built and durable. I would definitely approve and recommend this product to anyone. Install was a little tricky, only because the doggy door was installed next to a window which was double studded. No biggie a little reframing and the door fit perfectly. All in all one tough and weather proof door. For example today is pretty windy outside and if you stand in front of the doggie door you cant feel anything coming through and as soon as you push the flap out you can feel the wind gushing in pretty impressive i might add. I will update this review in a few months after my dogs have used and abused the door and tell you guys how the door is holding up.

The product is great, however whatever happened the first time I ordered this item (on Dec. 13th) it was never shipped yet I was charged. They sent me an "Oops, something went wrong" email that advised I should cancel door #1 order. I tried, it wouldn't let me, I phoned and was assured my refund would be forth coming, somehow they "forgot" to refund me....3 or 4 phone calls later I received my refund on door #1 today (Jan. 14). Door #2 arrived on Jan. 11. I think I expected a little better.

These are made with tons of ways to shortenlengthen for your size door. I was impressed with that when I pulled it out and began reading installation directions. Unfortunately there’s about a 34” gap between the two sizes offered (even after utilizing all the adjustable pieces), and of course my door fit in that zone. The directions mention adjustability by cutting, but no directions indicate how. So, the only way I got this to work so well is my own ingenuity and possession of metal cutting tools. Otherwise, I like the sturdy flap. It doesn’t blow in and out with the wind or leak a bunch of ac. One of my dogs still won’t use it because the magnet sticks it in place so well, but we can train or adjust the magnet.

A bit of a challenge for my retired contractor father in law to I stall, but once in it was a godsend! Our pup quickly leaned how to use it. It hasn't melted again the hot afternoon sun in the summer/fall, and isn't drafty or cold in the winter. The magnets keep the flap closed yet accessible for the pup. Huge bonus is the lockable door for when we're not home, to give us piece of mind!

After it was installed it worked great! However it took a little bit to get there. Closely examine your door to make sure you have clear access to your door without trim or anything in the way. I had to cut down a piece a wood to get me around the trim on my because I didn’t want to cut out trim like the instructions called for. The paper instructions aren’t great so definitely look up the YouTube tutorial. If everything was perfectly lined up for you, I could see the install being about 20 minutes but it took me about an hour to think through and manage the workaround solutions. Also, I ended up having to replace every battery within the controllers and sensors because all the other ones were dead. Lastly, think about where to run wires for power and how to conceal them.
