Best Dog Crates With Reviews

My 4 month old Belgian Malinois has been growing fast so after comparing a few crates I decided on this one and I'm really glad I did. At 30" high X 39.5" long it's roomy enough for my long dog who is growing taller by the week, it was easy to assemble, and I really like the fact that the nuts and bolts were made of metal rather than plastic as other similar designs have in theirs. I like that it has wheels too so that it could easily be pushed wherever you want to move it. The only things that the manufacturer could improve upon that I could see are 1) the two bowls for food and water (which should be metal to prevent a dog from chewing and ingesting the plastic, and 2) the weigh/thickness of the bottom could be increased, as I notice that it bows somewhat and the crate rocks back and forth when the dog moves around in it.

We were on a cross country trip from TX to WA with our cats and needed a very large crate. We ordered this one in the XL 42" so it could fit our two cats, a 30" bed, their litter box, and two mounted food bowls. This did great with so much space for them. I liked that it had two openings even though we only used one. It was easy to take them out of the larger crate and put them into their smaller carriers when we stopped at hotels for the night to bring them in.

My husky suffers from extreme separation anxiety, which means that when left alone at the house he destroys anything and everything. I've tried everything from running him prior to be leaving him alone and he is still really destructive. He has already escaped from two cages, somehow he figures out how to open the cages. Its been 1 week so far and he has not figured out how to open the cage. I leave him in the cage for 3 hours max at a time. I don't have any complaints as far as him escaping. I just wish that the cage floor was different because it does seem a bit uncomfortable for dogs to lay in. I would recommend this cage to other owners that have dogs that suffer from separation anxiety and are great escape artist. Now i don t have to worry about mu husky destroying my house.

The shipping was really fast although I hadn’t received our new puppy yet. After only a day of puppy discoveries, she has made this a safe zone and sleep zone for daytime naps. She walks in to the full open crate on her own and with the top open she can look up. We are taking puppy on a road trip and will bring this since it closes to store with wheels and a handle to bring to her next stop. I would recommend this to puppy owners and full grown pups as well. Sides are well built so she will grow into this. I purchased the small in chocolate

I ordered the large size. I have two GSDs (85lbs and 75lbs), and they each have enough room to easily turn around and lie down. They can't FULLY stretch out like these bedhogs like to do, but they are plenty comfortable and have adequate room. I bought water bowl holders on Chewy that lock onto the side of the crate wiring so they don't take up any floor space. It took me about 40 minutes to put each crate together alone. Instructions were clear, and there is a little bag of spare parts just in case but I didn't need anything extra. The foam sticky pads that you stick to the bottom feet won't stay on if you try to slide the crate across hardwoods, but are probably better than nothing. The beds that come with the crate are a bit smelly but fine after a few days of airing out. I'll give it 5/5 stars for the price. It's not solid wood, it's not going to secure a highly agitated or stressed dog, but for less than $400 it'll do. My GSDs are both 7 yrs and don't try to escape any more. We'll see how they hold up over time....

It is mainly well-constructed, but some of the slats on the side were loose, and one back seam doesn't pull flush. The door sticks and I'm not sure how secure the latch would be; when my puppy jumps against the door (excited to know he's coming out) the whole thing rattles, and it seems it could pop open easily. He is happy with the new crate and tucks himself into it with no fuss. The wood is good quality (not the typical veneer- garbage that scratches just looking at it), and it looks very nice with the beveled top, base and arches. If you have a dog that will challenge the crate AT ALL, I don't think this is the one for you though. I think even my little guy could break out if he got a notion to try, but he is crate trained so I think it will work for us. It goes together easily (less than 1/2 hour.) If your house is small, or you're not strong, I suggest opening it outside and bringing in the panels, rather than struggling with the awkward box! The box is worth saving, though great for storing artwork - very good packaging!! I got the large, even though my puppy is only fourteen pounds ( a cockapoo) but he sometimes likes to stretch out full length when he's sleeping, and I wanted to give him the choice of either curling in his cat bed, or lying full length. With the large, you could put a regular carrier inside at first, to "train" a dog that needs some more hefty confinement. Too bad the slats don't have a wire rod running through them; that would make it much more sturdy, plus having two latches. My biggest disappointment is I ordered Walnut, and the box was labeled Walnut - but it is obviously Espresso; it's very dark and doesn't match my other furniture as I intended. If not for that, I'd be very happy with it.

We got this crate for our new puppy and it’s very well made. Very sturdy, solid materials, easy assembly, and the latch mechanisms work smoothly. I did add a few small felt pads to the base where the door closes to help keep it from having any noise of wood touch wood when the door closes (don’t want to wake the sleeping puppy!) but that was a simple and easy add on. Just a personal preference thing, wasn’t necessary by any means. Bottom of the crate is black, but still looks nice. Fits a puppy pad or soft bedding material well. Great purchase...highly recommend!

Absolutely love this pet crate. Seems well-built and I hope it lasts! I am not going to leave my dogs in this crate over the 4th of July holidays, tho!! LOL We got smokey blue with havana gold top and it is gorgeous. Our unit arrived with no damage whatsoever and I was worried because the poor delivery guy dropped it off of the truck! Other than that, the delivery went smoothly and they made sure to get the giant box in the door before leaving, even with the pandemic. My large male German Shepherd can easily fit in the crate and he is 81 pounds. I would say he would be at the maximum size for this crate, but he is quite long and tall even for a GS. Our pups have been crate trained from the start and don't mind "going to bed" but if your dog doesn't like the crate, then I wouldn't start with this one as it is not going to hold up to destructive behaviors....which is why i am keeping the metal one for fireworks/severe weather. However, it didn't seem to be overly cheap as other reviewers suggested. The back is not finished, so it needs to be placed against something. The doors could be a weak point if you have a dog that wants out, but holds up to my large dog laying against them and my kids playing with them. Bottom line, I love it. It isn't a maximum security prison, but it is beautiful and it seems to be a good fit for our fur babies (and our 2yr old and 7yr old actual babies who DO think it is a jail, lol)!

I replaced my 2 large standard crates with these softer ones after one of my 2 dogs got 3 of his back toes caught between the upper and lower bottom bars in the back of the crate. He was screaming. Awful. I tried to pull the top and bottom apart so he could get his toes out. It wouldn't give at all. I ran and got major tools to disassemble (including a bolt cutter) or pry the bars apart. By the time I was heading back to the bedroom, he had stopped screaming and met me in the hallway. I was way more upset than he was at this point. Right then and there I went online and found these soft crates. Super easy to set up, well made, no more trapped toes. I did set them in crate pans to give the base more support. Make no mistake, these crates are for dogs already crate trained that are happy with their little dens. My dogs love their crates so it is not an issue for me. Bonus is that they are just as easy to take down as they are to set up and would be great for travel.

Really nice looking crate that can double as a little accent tabletop - easy to dress up with some items on top. Its a good size for small dogs, but would probably be much more of a crate-type feeling for larger ones. The floor is slippery so you WILL want to put down some kind of covering. I used a rubber pet mat sold for food bowls - it works great because it doesnt slip around the way a blanket might. My little one loves her home. Only giving it four stars because the door does not slide all the way flush with the side when in the open position. You can see that in my photo. It sticks out about an inch or two and that is pretty annoying because it limits you to keeping that particular side against a wall, lest you constantly walk by and catch yourself on the piece that sticks out.

Love, Love, Love this dog crate! I bought a wood one for my dog who has separation anxiety. She chewed the bars while I was gone. I had to give that away and now this is her new place, home! She has been laying in it in her bed happily the past 3 days. I am thinking once lock her in that will be over. That is my fear. I am gonna look on line for a solution. Back to the crate, it is very well made and beautiful! I learned there are 2 ways for the dog to exit. There is a handle so if you need to put in your car to go on vacation. All you have to do is grab the handle and take top off. All the wood is not appeached. It is su0per stylish with a quick way to use for travel. s

This is a very nice looking crateend table. It looks like a quality piece of furniture. I got the large. My 80 pound boxer fits very comfortably. He loves to go in and sleep. It is quite tall as it can also be used as a gate. When in crate configuration the roof fits on top but is not fastened or secured. There is a plastic tray for the bottom, but no permanent floor, again to allow it to be configured as a straight gate if desired. There is one latch at the top, but I feel I should add another latch at the bottom. Because the large is so large, it looked awkward in various locations. It took some rearranging of furniture before I found a spot where I thought it looked classy and not clunky. [A dog needs to be crate *trained* - if you just lock a dog in a crate without training and getting the dog used to it, almost any dog can and will break out of almost any crate, destroying the crate and probably injuring itself in the process.] I live this crate.

This is a very cute crate. I will be using it to place the cats' litter box in since one of my cats is constantly getting ambushed and picked on when she is in a typical litter box. I hope with one, maybe 2, of the doors open a bit that she will feel safer when coming and going and not being so wide open to attack. I am hoping she will also feel safer since she will be able to see what little troublemaker may be lurking outside the crate when she is finished, and she can decide whether to sit a while or to exit. I am using the ModKat high sided litter box inside, and she still has a bit of room to sit on the front or sides of the box to wait. An improvement to this box would be to have a real bottom though. The crate just sits on the floor and the tray slips in over your carpet/flooring, leaving plenty of room for scratching, peeing, unwanted behavior, with little protection to flooring.

Decent crate. If you think it is going to look like fine wooden furniture - no, it won't, but then again this is a wood-plastic composite and will be easy to clean if an accident happens and it really doesn't look bad at all. It definitely is an upgrade from the travel crate I was using in the family room. Unfortunately I can't put bedding into any of my dog's crates as they all shred the bedding and then find the shredded bedding to be a gourmet meal. There is a reason to this whole bedding story: if one accidently urinates in the crate it will be on the floor...I have water proof vinyl plank flooring as dogs and messes go hand in hand, but for those that don't be warned there are some small gaps between the sidewalls and bottom panel and I guarantee it will leak. This is not your typical "crate pan" with a lip that helps contain the mess. The one thing missing that I plan on fixing is the lack of door stop or door damper to keep the door from swinging inward. It can make it a challenge to latch if you don't have two hands available as the door moves easily and pushes inward as you are trying to latch it. A thin furring strip screwed into the inside of the crate opening should fix the issue. It isn't a big deal, but it is something I personally find to be missing from the design. Things I love about this crate are the high side walls and solid back panel. I have one dog that is a vindictive urinator. If she gets mad enough she will potty in her crate even if she has just been outside. Once she has a puddle she has to splash in it (her rendition of the dance scene from "Singing in the Rain"). With a traditional crate it went 360 around the crate (wall, floor, on the dog in the crate adjacent to her; the only thing she didn't get was the ceiling). This will stop that nonsense as the full back and higher side panel should only allow any mess to only come out the front (well it should only come out of the front, but with her anything is possible). I shouldn't have to worry about furniture in the vicinity of her "crime scene". As long as it isn't in front of her it should be safe from her tap dance splashing - and those gaps I mentioned earlier will help drain the crate to further reduce the "splash" It is a solid crate, it is secure, went together rather easily. I would recommend it if you are looking for something with a little more containment than most offer. I have had a couple of issues with the "nut or cover" on the crate side walking off (so far not the hook/latch side on the door). Locktite Blue fixes the problem. Make certain you use the Locktite labeled "blue" as it is removable (the red is not), in the event that you have to ever remove it for any reason. The blue is more than enough to keep the nut/cover from walking off and coming apart. Only caution watch that you don't tighten it down so far that the hook latch is difficult to engage

Love this crate! Easy set up, sturdy, i was able to fit my 3, 11 pound chihuahua mixes in the large crate and it fit in the corner perfectly, I like that the sides have larger gaps so they don’t get there nails stuck in them like the Mesh gates, the white blends with my walls perfectly as well , and they absolutely love it, and went right in to take a nap
