Best Cat Scratchers & Scratching Posts With Reviews

I bought three of the 32 inch posts to create a floor to ceiling climbing wall for my two cats who love to climb. Make sure you have a power drill and put them into wall studs. You'll need screws too. None come with the posts. I'd recommend a 2" #8 or #10. The gray ends twist off to reveal the wall mount. There are no instructions but it's pretty straight forward. They took me about an hour to put up. Quality is very good. Came boxed and bubble wrapped, in perfect condition. I moved their condo over to it so they had places to jump to that were carpeted and grippy. I plan on adding carpeted shelves to the walls beside the post so I can put their condo back at the patio doors ;-)

All three of our cats love this. They use the three scratching posts every day, so they are becoming a little frayed at the tops where they stretch out and claw the most. The good thing about this rounded three-post design is that it's easy to just rotate it by 33% every few days and reveal a new area for scratching; it helps with longevity and keeping the wear-down relatively even. Our three girls enjoy playing with the three hanging toys, which have withstood daily play for nearly a year. Two of the hanging toys are puffy balls and one is a fluffy mouse. All are attached to elastic strings and mounted on the underside of the top platform (on the inside of the rim), which is a great design feature - we haven't had any issues with the tree tipping over or becoming unbalanced when they pull on them and try to yank them off. They love the top round platform, hopping on and off it throughout the day; sometimes we'll find one of them napping on top of it. Two of our cats use it to play together, one sits on top and paws at the other who sits inside the bottom hiding between the posts. For the price point, this is a great little play area for a small corner of a room or hallway. A heads up re: size, this post is quite short and the diameter is on the small side - our cats are petite, so it's a great fit for them - but if you have larger cats, you may want to look at a sturdier model with more space in the bottom for bigger kitties, and larger square platforms for the extra support needed for heavier kitties.

My cats love this! I love this! It’s sturdy, was easy to put together, and it fits nicely in my small living room without being obtrusive. I have a small house and have never been a fan of cat furniture because it takes up so much room and is typically really expensive, but I really needed to introduce more scratching surfaces. This thing fit the bill in form, function, and finances! The two of them moved in within 10 minutes of me setting it up and they hang out inon it all day. I’ve also gotten lots of compliments on it and a few people wanted to know where I got it because they want one too!

I love this product. I bought one for my cat in 2021 and she still uses it. As is gets a little worn I just flip it to a less used side. I have it in the corner of my living room as it looks OK. She can get a good vertical stretch and scratch! My cat has never scatched the furniture in that room.

we needed something low with a scratching surface and a place to sleep/hide/play with a smaller footprint for 2 1.5-year-old rescue/foster cats. in almost all of those respects, this fits the bill. the cats we purchased it for haven't quite figured out that it's OK to scratch it yet, but it's only been a few days, so hoping that'll happen with time. as another reviewer mentioned, our cats tore the hanging ball off the 1st day. the toy wasn't a reason I chose this, but considering how much the cats really enjoyed playing with it for the few hours it lasted, I'm sorry it's gone, and wish it had been attached more securely. also as another reviewer mentioned, the cushioned "pad" for the bottom of the tunnel doesn't stay put. our cats pulled that completely out of the tunnel almost immediately. I don't know if they did it simply because they discovered that they could (you know how cats are), as part of normal play/exploration, or because they preferred the tunnel without it. I removed it for now, might try putting it back in a few days, see what happens. 1 cat is enjoying this more than the other, I often find her inside it, or just perched on top of it. her brother, not as much. at least not that I've witnessed. again, it's only been a few days, so I hope that they both grow to like it equally and begin to scratch it. since they're small and like to cuddle together, I'm also hoping to find them sleeping together in it. it's definitely roomy enough for 2 cats to hang out inside. one of the "feet" attached to the bottom of the tunnel is slanted. it didn't happen during transit, it wasn't loose or anything, so it appears to have left the factory that way. even tho it's wonky to look at, it's attached very securely, so I'm thinking it shouldn't affect the overall sturdiness. but considering this wasn't inexpensive, a little more quality control would've been appreciated. maybe $15-$20 over-priced, but overall I'd give this a solid 4/5 stars. this is a (mostly) well-constructed, thoughtfully designed, compact piece that has a lot going for it. I can see it being great for older cats who are past their climbing/jumping years but who still want something accessible for sleeping, playing and scratching. I'd recommend it.

Great toy holder and paw scratcher post for my four kittens. They worked the dangling balls off but I use the arm limbs to re hang new toys that they can pull off. Just wish it was a bitter higher, but you can build onto it with covers as well. Be great if they made a taller one with a bigger platform.

We received our cat vegan leather scratching sofa guard 2 days ago and we are actually using it on a small ottoman which lid can be opened. Our cats decided to scratch their nails on that furniture, so we placed the guard on it. They were only curious to smell it so far as it is new, but it has already saved our ottoman. I am sure they will start scratching on it soon enough.

My cat loves this new cat scratcher. Just a few months ago, he was an outdoor cat with tree trunks to scratch on to keep his nails in shape, now that we have moved and transitioned him to scrictly indoors, this scratcher has been one of his favorite new things. He scratches, lays on and lays beside it in a beam of sunshine coming through his cat room window. It was love at first sight too, as soon as I got the plastic over wrap off of it and placed it on the floor, he was scratching on it, no catnip necessary for him!

My sweet cat, Donna, was pretty bored with every cat toy I'd gotten for her. I am thrilled to have found this fun scratching board with ball because she loves it! One thing I really love is that it's a toy and a scratching place combined into one. She'll play and play with the balls, trying to get them out, and then scratch on the board in turn. I can't personally speak for Donna but she really seems to like the circular nature of the inner part of this board. When she bats at one of the balls it rings and rolls along the board's tunnel. She'll repeat this over and over and the ball never gets stuck or comes to an end. It just goes around and around. Having a bell in each ball makes it extra fun.

We have three cats, that all love this scratching post. Most posts tend to get wobbly after a few months because of the frequent use, and because our youngest has a penchant for climbing them to perch on top. This one is tall enough for her climbing activities, but very sturdy. We've had it for at least 6 months now, and no wobble! It doesn't hurt that it works well with our furniture and doesn't stand out like a sore thumb the way many cat trees and scratching posts do!

This cat scratching post has a nice wide base so my two cats can’t tip it over. It came with two 15” scratcher towers and Wayfair shows them combined to make a very tall scratching post. My cats don’t need such a tall post, so I’ve only used one 15” post and stored the other one as a replacement when they destroy this first one. That’s a bonus! I’m pleased with the simple aesthetic of this scratching post. I highly recommend this item

This scratching ball is very pretty. My cats scratch, climb, sniff and rub against this. No issues with it falling over although the cats have moved it around some. We have sprinkled a little cat nip on top cats go crazy for this. Lots of fun. Seems well made and that it will hold up well.

This is a durable heavy duty scratcher lounge perfect for large cats or multi cat homes. My colony cats love this scratcher. I have purchased a total of 6 of them over the past few years because it lasts longer than any other scratch pad I have bought my colony cast in the past. Honestly the very first time I shopped for a tough scratcher pad or lounge I was very optimistic about spending at that time it was over $100 dollars for a scratch pad but once it came it was easy to see the scratcher was solid made with good quality material. This is the only scratcher lounge I will buy for my cats you get what you pay for so if you buy cheap scratchers you get a cheap product. I was happy to see the price has dropped about $20 dollars since then it seems a little pricey but it’s worth every penny.

My two orange tabbies Ted and Woody love this! I may have to buy two as they fight over it however I have noticed over time they have learned to share. They use it as furniture and the cheap grocery store cardboard scratcher I have has not been touched since this entered the house. Ted weighs 20 pounds and can fit on it and Woody is around 10 pounds. Woody is rough with it and although they both can fit on it, I have noticed the cardboard has not stood up to their scratching and they aren’t as attracted to it as they were a few weeks ago I still highly recommend buying as it has kept the cats off our furniture and from scratching it. I’m glad I bought this on the 4th of July sale as I would not have purchased at full price.

Overall, pretty great! My cat Mango likes sitting on the top tier and playing with the little mouse. The only negative I have to say is that the bottom tier (the hammock) isn’t sturdy enough to take his weight. He tried jumping on it a few times and it collapsed beneath him. I bet it would hold a kitten but no grown cats. I have it braced now on another scratcher and box of goldfish crackers - it just needs more support. And I agree with the other review about how the two middle levels shouldn’t be the same shape. I’m thinking of performing a little DIY modifications on one so he can jump between them. In general I’m happy though. It was easy enough to put together and pretty stable even without the ceiling brace. And I think Mango likes it!
