About This Product

Narasimha is aptly sculpted here in the torso and lower body of a human with the face of a lion, having a dreadful wide mouth, projecting teeth and fiery eyes of rage and anger; blessing the devotees of fearlessness and carrying the iconic Sudarshan Chakra and Conch, carved stylistically in his rear hands. This crowned head is garbed in a short length dhoti, fashioned in diagonal stripes, with its ends falling on either sides and ornamented in all powerful jewels.

Features

  • It is a powerful image and as one looks upon it, one visualises the chaotic but amniotic ocean that surrounds Him as He dreams the world into being. He is a superbly handsome deity as captured in the select medium ofbronze, this composition having been handpicked fromSouth Indiafor its high-precision finish.
  • It is inimitable, owing to the degree of labour and skill poured into this work. India's bronze sculptural tradition remains unmatched in traditional art across the world, paintings having dominated most of the art of the western world. The South is the home of this tradition, which began with the patronage of the Pallava rulers and flourished under that of the Cholas. Note the lifelike coils of Sheshanaga, and the lotus that springs forth from His navel as expounded in theMahabharata. Thus was the Lord Brahma born, who went on to project the subsequent cycle of time and existence of which we are a part. A quiet rishi of the South is seated in ardha-padmasana at the tail of Shesha. He is steeped in dhyana.

  • The Mahadevi, the great-goddess in this brass bust wears a long jatamukut which is heavily decorated with pearl strings and jewels. A few loose strands fall upon her shoulders. Parvati wears a floral printed blouse with a fine sari. Karnaphool, earrings shaped like flowers, and the stunning necklace adorn the awe-inspiring form of Parvati. The countenance of the goddess appears contemplative and immensely life-like. The contrast created by golden on the dark surface of brass is quite fascinating, giving this handmade Parvati bust a distinctively antique touch.
