Works well, but there is a learning curve. Very well built, easy to put together. Don’t know about the burnt grease taste that everyone raves about. I use a water pan under my meat to prevent grease from falling into the coals or onto the diffuser. Came out great. The smoker is equipped with a side wood chip loader, so there's no need to open the door to add wood chips during the smoking process. This helps to seal in the heat of the food. Adding a box of wood chips will last for 2-3 hours of smoking, which helps avoid the need for frequent addition of wood chips and is perfect for beginners. And smoker equipped with 2 rear rolling wheels and handle, you can move the smoker as you like wherever you want to use it. And when you are finished using it, it can easily be moved to a corner without taking up space of your patio.

As it relates to this smoker I can attest that this East Oak Smoker does an amazing job. If using all 4 racks remember to offset the meat so you can experience evenly smoked/cooked meat. The vertical design with four adjustable racks gives plenty of space to cook multiple items at once. The LED temperature control is simple and holds steady, and the included meat probe is a nice bonus. The water and wood trays also help keep the meat moist and flavorful without much effort. My only complaint is the front glass seal isn’t as tight as it should be, and I’ve noticed some smoke escaping. Not a dealbreaker, but something to be aware of. So I purchased this for my husband for Christmas and it came from the manufacturer or company that sent it with dents and scratches on the side as it put can see in the pictures. My husband didn’t want to try to repackage it as this item is almost 95 lbs and try to figure out how to get it back. So we opted to keep it as it’s cosmetic and should not affect functionality of it. This item requires some assembling but it’s quite minimal. You only need a screwdriver if I remember correctly. This item is Stainless Steel and a powder coated black housing. The handles are also a stainless steel brushed finish. This smoker does have Bluetooth. You download the app to your phone or tablet and can use the app to control the temperature. The app is extremely basic and nothing special. If this was the reason for my purchase I would have returned it. Absolutely no real creativity put into the functionality of this app In the top part of the smoker you have several metal racks. The top one has hooks for sausage and hanging meats on it. All the racks are removable however the levels are affixed and cannot be adjusted. In the bottom drawer your dripping pan is in there, a water pan as well as a wood chip pan of you choose to use them all the trays can be removed for cleaning. The drawer stays shut by clasp latches. It’s not self closing. By the glider on the drawer seems to move easily enough. The thermal probe is built in and has a nice housing holder on inside of machine to store the probe in Read instructions thoroughly. You must season the smoker before it’s first use. This is an electric smoker so you will need an outlet for it. Place on flat ground as the back has 2 wheels for moving it around. I could not find a custom cover that fits this smoker by the company so, I purchased the Unicook 40” cover and it fits this smoker fully assembled almost perfect. It’s a nice Fit Looking forward to getting to use the smoker for some delicious meals. Wow! This a really nice smoker/grill. It's soo much bigger than I thought it would be, which is a good thing. It's solid, sturdy, and each level comes apart easily. Assembly was super easy. I tested out on a Saturday morning and with in bout 4-6 hours we had some ribs and roast smoked. This works great and was easy to regulate the heat. My only issue and by all means this is more of a selfish issue then anything I wish the wood box was bigger. I am in love with this and really love how it smokes. Clean up is easy also. As a charcoal grill, it’s not the greatest as you have to use the lower levels so while cooking you are lifting off 2 giant levels as a lid. The heat distribution is off as well, the first use I thought maybe I didn’t use enough charcoal but had the same issues on second use. Temperature gauge shows temperature up to 400 yet the corn was still frozen in the middle. Perhaps this is beginning user error, perhaps I should remove one level when using a charcoal grill style. Great product, temperature has some fluctuations but overall holds temperature well and the amount of smoke that it produces is perfect. After comparing several Pit Boss vertical grills, I chose the Navigator 3 vertical smoker to replace my Pit Boss model PBV4PS1. The Navigator is a smaller grill with 200 square feet less cooking space than the PBV4PS1, but it still has five conventional racks for cooking and room to add additional if necessary. Furthermore, the Navigator 3 Series vertical pellet smoker included various desirable features such as a side shelf, rapid fire ignitor, temperatures in 5-degree increments, and Bluetooth. One aspect I was debating while attempting to choose my smoker was the VST Technology; however, I brought a smoke tube to fulfill that purpose. My grill's burn-in process was simple, and there were no issues when it started up. I would recommend that you do read the manual for startup procedures prior to using your grill. As a previous Pit Boss user, I did not initially prime my smoker and kept hearing a loud thump as the grill was priming—it has eventually subsided as I use the grill, but I sometimes hear the thump. As many other reviews have mentioned, this grill's temperature varies. When I set my grill to 250 degrees, it initially rises to 260-265 degrees. However, after about 15 minutes or less, it returns to the specified temperature. Like other grills, when I open the door, the temperature drops to 20-30 degrees, but it quickly returns to the appropriate range and stays there. Lessons learned before my first my first cook and from YouTube, I placed aluminum foil in my water pan as well as grease shield (aids in easier cleanup), a few pellets in the burn pot and turned the grill up to 300 degrees during the start-up before lowering it to my target cooking temperature. Supposed to assist maintain the temperature more consistent. My first cook, Thanksgiving morning, the outside temperature was 28 degrees with a high of 38, so I had to set the grill at a higher temperature than I desired, which also meant cooking for a longer period of time. Regardless, the crisp winter air and delicious aroma of the smoker as I smoked my turkey, mac & cheese, collard greens, and green bean casserole made Thanksgiving even more enjoyable. Looking for warming blanket for many other winter smokes… One of my personal drawbacks was having to adjust to a smaller grill over the PBV4PS1, as well as a smaller and shallower water pan—needless to say, I am happy with this smoker. One other drawback is that in order to operate the door’s bottom latch, the side shelf must be in the raised position. For my second cook of spare ribs, baked beans, meatloaf, and a small ham, the grill supported my cook, and everything turned out perfect.
