Get your "Veg" on!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have been eating SOOOO many more veggies since I bought the KitchenAid Vegetable Sheet Cutter. It's only been a week but the journey has only begun and the possibilities are almost endless. We adore wraps but don't want the extra carbs. Enter the lovely long sheets of "veg" that have taken wraps to a whole new level. Even sweet potato, cut and brushed with EVO and thrown on the grill pan for a quick sear/heat/soften makes the best wrap imaginable. Take that burger, a bit of cheese, fresh sweet pea shoots and hummus and wrap it up in the sweet potato wrapper and you'll gladly give up that carb heavy bun! Zoodles (Zucchini noodles) with pesto and toasted walnuts came out perfectly. How about a unique take on breakfast with delicate sheets of Granny Smith apples stuffed with rolled oats, pecans, craisins and honey then baked in the oven and topped with Greek yoghurt? The only difficulty I've had is with butternut squash but I've read many other reviews that suggest this is one of the toughest ones to manage due to the hollow seed-filled core. Despite the challenge, I used just the top solid part of the squash and made an incredible butternut squash lasagne filled with coasrely chopped oyster mushrooms in a mornay sauce and finished with fried sage leaves and fresh Grana Padano...can I honestly say it was more satisfying than my homemade lasagne noodles? Yes! This is a game changer and I'm looking forward to playing and creating countless other beautiful and flavorful recipes with the new attachment.

I love the dicing attachment!!!
I have been using the food processor attachment for about a month now and absolutely love it. The slicer has worked great on everything from cucumbers to carrots. I also like having the ability to adjust the thickness of the slices. I have also enjoyed the julienne attachment but don't use it as often. However, with how much I love those features, they don't compare to how much I love the dicing kit! My sister and I make about 125 pints of salsa each year. Most of our time is spent chopping and dicing the produce. The dicing attachment makes this process so much faster and easier. After cutting the tomatoes and peppers to fit the opening, it is a matter of seconds before you see perfectly diced veggies fall in to the bowl. The only problem I ran into with the dicing attachment was that when I didn't peel the tomatoes, after a few tomatoes the skins block the dicer. I had to either open the processor to clean it out, or run a harder veggie through to clear the blade. Tomatoes are the only thing I had any problems with. The other thing I love about the attachment is that I am not limited to the amount of produce that will fit in a food processor's bowl. Before I had to constantly empty my processors bowl. With the attachment, you place a bowl beneath to catch the food. The only limitation is the size bowl you choose. Besides the struggle I had with tomato skins, I did find one other challenge. When processing juicy produce like tomatoes, the juices can go over the edges of the easily cleaned liner and fill the cracks and crevices of the attachment. This can make cleaning a little harder. If the liner met up with the lid better, this wouldn't be a problem. Finally, is there a way to mince using this attachment? With a stand alone processor, I would run it longer using a chopping blade. The processor I used did not come with a users manual and I was not able to figure out a way to mince. I use that feature often and it would be a helpful function on this attachment. Pros: Easy to use. Versatile. adjustable slicing blade. Variable speeds through mixer controls. Perfectly diced vegetables. Time saver. Easy clean up. Not limited by size of processor bowl. Cons: Tomato skins can plug up dicing attachment. Juices can escape the liner making cleaning more difficult. I have not found a way to mince using this attachment. Overall, I love this attachment and would recommend it to others. It is worth it for the dicing attachment alone.

Works great with KSM6573
I have the KSM6573, narrow 6.5 qt bowl lift mixer. This is my favorite accessory! Lets me beat eggs, cream butter & sugar, etc. then remove, add to the large bowl full of dry ingredients and swap to the standard whisk, dough hook or paddle and go! Saves my spare standard size bowl for the next thing I'm making. Used to haul out my KA stick blender to beat eggs, etc, when recipes called for doing wet ingredients & dry separately before mixing them together, but it wasn't quite the right tool, and meant more things to assemble/wash/dissemble and clutter up the counter & sink as I worked. This is also great for making a quick batch of whipped cream for a dessert, meringue for a single pie, and even adding some air & blending ingredients with eggs for an omelet or casserole. Am thinking about ordering another one, just to have on hand when I do holiday cookies, so I can quickly make multiple batches of frostings in different colors & flavors without having to stop and wash & dry everything in between. It was a little tough to get on/off the pins the first few times I used it. I just put a little vegetable oil on my finger and rubbed on the pins, so it went on/off more easily. After that, the holes kind of smoothed out, and I no longer need to do that, it goes on/off easy-peasy. Though the whisk doesn't have as many wires as I'd prefer, it does a great job, just give it a few more seconds than you would when using the larger bowl & standard whisk to produce the same results. Also, shallower bowl means you need to start at a lower speed until you start seeing things begin to thicken & peak. If you crank it up to high speed immediately, like you can do with the large bowl & whisk, you'll get some spatters out of the bowl.

GORGEOUS addition to my kitchen!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I knew this bowl was kind of pretty in the pictures, but I wasn't prepared for how absolutely GORGEOUS it is in 'real life'! It feels as lovely as it looks, too, and the fact that it is so versatile and functional on top of all that pretty...wow. I love how it looks on my counter, on my mixer, or on the table. And I also love that it can go into the freezer, the oven, and/or the microwave! It just makes things easier if you need butter or chocolate melted or something. It IS kind of tall and doesn't fit very easily into my microwave (I have to remove the turning plate for it to fit), but it's cool that it is durable to withstand extreme temperatures. And it's sooo much prettier than the stainless steel mixing bowl I already had. I do kind of miss a handle and a pouring spout, I have to say. Of course, this wouldn't be the beautiful piece of ceramic art that it is if it had them, so that's cool. Without the handle, though, it's a little bit heavy and a bit unwieldly and awkward to handle, but the 'mermaid lace' textured design makes it easy enough to hold on to while pouring batter out. (See how brilliant that is?? Beauty AND functionality in design!) One last note (literally): This bowl has been sitting out on my counter for a while now, and several times a day, as I pass it, I can't help but flick it with my thumb and middle finger like it's a bell. It has a BEAUTIFUL sonorous sound! :)

Difficult to find Pro 6 QT accessories. My first Wayfair purchase for my KA Stand mixer, an aftermarket scraper attachment. Mine mixer came with the metal attachment for doing cookie dough and keeping the bowl edge clean. The bright yellow purchase fits and w the dual “rubber” edge scrapes perfectly. If you see it available, need, buy it!! My second purchase a second stainless bowl. The 600 Pro lifts and lowers the Bowl VS the head lifting. It was my preference not only as a bread maker having highest powercapacity, but I find the head lift to be messy. This bowl was the last open box, very affordable and listed as my 6 qt. Very happy, it is exactly the correct bowl. They have certain fittings. And, it fits better than the bowl that came with my Mixer that I have to struggle with every time Again, really happy! I think it arrived next day and the FedEx guy was super sweet! I didn’t provide a pic. I think the gal who included a pic of her gorgeous Andes Mint cake takes the cake for best picture! That’s exactly whyI wanted a second bowl, just switch out and start in on a second batter, or frosting, cream that goes in the fridge. I’m going to keep looking for attachments at Wayfair, and am pleased to see they haven’t used Covid as an excuse to lower their Service standards, Customer Service or move CS offshore. As a customer that means so much to me, that Wayfair Employees live where I live, understand my life, my culture, my struggles and therefore know how to help me. That is excellence, and personally I will purchase a slightly more expensive item from Wayfair any day than “A” who has no onshore service at all. THANX!

FANTASTIC!! If egg whites become gray = overbeaten
There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG WITH THIS WHIP!!! Julia Child references the greyness result in her book "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" regarding egg whites and other baking batters containing eggs that include the whites. GREY RESULT = over beaten!!!!! Which, considering the speed of the mixer is EXTREMELY EASY TO DO!!! I suggest to all that are feeling that this attachment is to blame for their baking disappointments to try the following before you put Kitchenaid and, MOST IMPORTANTLY - YOURSELF through a lot of headache for absolutely no reason. Those reviewers who've gotten replacements will experience the same exact outcome. 1.) When beating egg whites in a stand mixer (especially if your recipe calls for hand whisking) YOU MUST add a pinch of Cream of Tartar - a powdered spice sold everywhere - to stabilize the egg whites prior to mixing!!!! 2.) Due to the lightning-fast speed of the mixture YOU MUST STOP IT FREQUENTLY to check their consistency!!! If you do not, the whites will become grey in color and grainy, - reference Julia Child. She explains this in GREAT DETAIL in her PHENOMENAL BOOK, Mastering the Art of French Cooking. She devotes an entire chapter to eggs and another to equipment and the most engenius part is that she explains in GREAT AND GRAPHIC detail what happens if you underbeat, overbeat, don't add a stabilizer and another EXTREMELY IMPORTANT aspect - when to add the sugar or salt WHICH - BELIEVE IT OR NOT - IS ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL, detailing the undesirable results that will happen if you do not add these ingredients at precisely the right time. What I have discovered about baking, compared to regular cooking, IT IS AN EXTREMELY PRECISE ENDEAVOR. EACH AND EVERY PROBLEM LISTED HERE IN THE BAD REVIEWS IS ADDRESSED ABSOLUTELY as a problem/undesirable outcome of not being PRECISE - hardly the fault of the person attempting the creation as 99.9% of the recipes out there DO NOT WARN YOU ABOUT THIS STUFF. 3.) Go out and get yourself the aforementioned book by Julia Child. I have been cooking my whole life (I'm now 49) and reading this book has taught me SO MANY THINGS I didn't know myself. The book is a MASTERPIECE and is unlike any other book - it is a TEACHING BOOK - NOT JUST A COLLECTION of recipes. I am not a publisher, book seller and have no interest other than my sincere interest in helping others. I bought my stand mixer because although I considered myself a great cook, I had little experience baking, was told of the precision necessity and was a little nervous. NO NEED IF YOU BUY THIS BOOK. I am a Customer Service Manager and if I were in charge of the Kitchen Aid call center, I'd have a few copies of this book handy for my reps. EVERY SINGLE EXAMPLE listed here is written in the book. THESE WERE NOT APPLIANCE OR ATTACHMENT FAILURES - the failures listed here were preventable if the persons were following a recipe that FAILED THEM!!! Every last one!! LADIES, ARM YOURSELVES WITH JULIA'S BOOK, She revised it when the stand mixer came out and she listed EVERY SINGLE FAILURE she had IN AMAZING DETAIL while attempting & revising the recipes in it. YOU'LL NEVER HAVE THE PROBLEMS LISTED HERE AGAIN!!!

Hamilton Beach Stand Mixer is da bomb!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] A week ago this baby arrived and my daughter was ecstatic! It was lighter than I expected when we took it out of the box, but still worked much like the big boys. It was very well packaged to prevent damage in shipping - a definite plus. For our first test run, we made one of the recipes in the enclosed booklet (dinner rolls) the next day, which worked well for our dinner that night. As I said, it's not as heavy/hefty/sturdy as some of the bigger boys, but this will work well for the home baker (my daughter already claimed this one) or an everyday home chef. I really liked the "button lock" for the tilt function. It is not just push the button to unlock it and lift the head, but you also need to push the button to put the head down - which is a great safety function. No more unexpected drop downs or splashing from a "re-position/re-start". Another safety feature we liked were the "suction cups" on the base that helps keep it on the counter/table/work bench, allowing it to "stay put" (no creeping over the surface) when using at higher speeds. The only "question" I had is why make the splatter shield so small? Yes it does keep liquids from splashing up and it is relatively easy to add liquids to the batter with the opening on the shield, but would have been nice for the opening to be larger to use with non-liquids. We did try to use it for flour - but literally could only put in the flour with a tablespoon (See the video attached) ... NOT great functionally, but I know it will be used for liquids, just not dry ingredients that can "splatter" and "fly" just like liquids. Oh and all was very easy to clean both before using (right out of the box) and most importantly after using. Personally I hate when it takes longer to clean up machines than it did to use it. I can definitely seeing this being used by my baker for many many years. I received the Hamilton Beach Red Stand Mixer for free/discounted price to facilitate my testing in exchange for my honest review. The opinion shown above is my own.

Mixing-It-Up with my NEW #BlackAndDeckerHelixMixer
So I received my new #BlackAndDecker #HelixPerformance Hand Mixer as a gift, recently, and decided to spend a few moments in the Black and Decker site today simply sharing with fellow consumers about my "experience" with B & D small appliances. I already own one of the BEST B & D hand mixers ever placed on the market, as my older model is currently about 25 years old, and I am ALSO inserting a quick snapshot I took of it (just to show it off a bit, lol). Nonetheless, I'm an avid food/recipe creator here in Birmingham, AL, and although my older "BlackandDecker #SpatulaSmart model is STILL in pristine working condition, I was ecstatic to receive this new model, the Helix Performance Hand Mixer, as a gift, with it's perfectly-designed attachments AND the nice "storage case" that is included! I was fascinated with the fantastic TURBO functionality, so, as soon as I opened it, I HAD to try it out on some breakfast crepes AND some ultra-fluffy omelets this leisurely Saturday morning. To say I was impressed is an understatement. My BlackandDecker Helix Performance hand mixer "whipped" it all up in a flash. An absolute DANDY o a little appliance. So the efficiency of the turbo feature is ABOVE expectations. I'm a full-on scratch cook who uses only the best and healthiest, whole ingredients in my own recipe creations, so I will definitely be putting my NEW, attractive-designed and mixer to THE TEST in my oh-so-SOUTHERN kitchy, for years to come. And what's NOT to love about the aesthetics and color choices of this model? Right? Be sure to have a gander at my older, Black and Decker, 25+ year-old, #SpatulaSmart model photo. included, that I wouldn't let go of for the world, lol. I thoroughly recommend this fun, new version of an old time kitchen necessity, and favorite, of ALL cooks!~ XO
