Even though I had the measurements - sometimes it is hard to visual what the size will be - it is not as deep (front to back) as I was hoping - the length and height are great. Have built one of two so far. Nice solid wood. Not a huge fan of the plastic inserts twist in design for the construction, but you get what you pay for. The trunk is as it looks. Hinges seem strong but even if they weren't, the wood is so light that it wouldn't hurt fingers. If you are looking for a solid piece of furniture, this isn't it. The trunk arrived nicely wrapped And boxed. But there were some issues. One of the planks in front had to be hammered back together. This trunk is made of solid reclaimed wood that is not finished. Expect the piece to have significant color and surface variation. The inside is smooth enough to store blankets in. The outside needed some dusting on arrival, but this was not too much trouble. It may be a bit rougher than I had anticipated, but I am keeping it.
