When the leaf is open, it created more counter top than I thought it would. The back is plain and could use some adhesive drawer/shelf liner, which I might do later. This island has worked out perfectly since I bought it in 2022. It still looks great and is in good condition. I chose it because it fits between a useless (to me) pass through with a partial wall to the left & kitchen counter on the right. The bit of extra storage helps in my small apartment.
