The trunk is as it looks. Hinges seem strong but even if they weren't, the wood is so light that it wouldn't hurt fingers. If you are looking for a solid piece of furniture, this isn't it. The picture you've all been waiting for... Yep holds albums. I was hoping to flip the box on its side so that you can read the spines, but I miscalculated. They will not fit. However, as you can see, two rows of vinyl fit just fine with the box positioned as intended. This is about 80 records. Have built one of two so far. Nice solid wood. Not a huge fan of the plastic inserts twist in design for the construction, but you get what you pay for.
